Navy Federal Credit Union NFCU Unathorized charges USA, Nationwide |

I've used NFCU for about 5 years now and in that time it's been a living nightmare. I have currently obtained several credit cards and a few loans in which have all been paid on time and the loans paid off completely except the student loan. In this 5 years I've done nothing but struggle to contact them for loan information and it takes a unreasonable time to process most of their information. Recently however I had a transaction made by pay pal without my authorization. Upon being made aware of it I contacted NFCU to advise them that paypal was making unauthorized charges on my account and that I would like to block them from making any more transactions. The charge of 169.99 made my checking account bounce and I was charged a 29.99 charge to my account. That charge was reversed and the account went back to it's origninal state. Within a week after the charge was reversed and NFCU was notified of the account to be blocked I found the transaction on my account again with once again a 29.99 charge for insufficient funds. I then contacted the back to have the charges reversed and advised them that this account should have been blocked. At this time they stated that they would had no record of the account being requested to be blocked even after I supplied them with the e-mail stating it and their response to it. They also stated the reason the trasaction was returned the first time was out of courtesy. Can you believe that?! They claim helping you with a unathorized charge is a courtesy rather then a requirement as other banks will do. Most banks will work with you to make things right and fix unauthorized charges, however NFCU will admit no wrong and will slowly feed off your account to greedly obtain your hard earned money. The customer service is nothing more then uneducated phone operators who simply laugh at you and try to make you feel stupid and when you request information that they don't know they just make something up. I fail to see how a credit union that represents our countries armed forces could be so criminal in it's practices. I suggest anyone that is considering this credit union to move on. They have low introduction rates to bait you in but you simply get nickle and dimed in other places. Example: you are charged an additional $1.00 everytime you swipe your debit card, EVEN IF YOU GET THE PIN WRONG. If you have to do it twice they chare $2.00 ontop of the ATM fee or store fee's. Also they find dozens of reasons to add charges to your credit or debit cards and they simply rename them to things such as convinence charges but when you ask what these charges are they simply beat around the truth. Also I had a car loan that was originally signed for 4.9 percent APR. However after starting the loan NFCU stated that since I had a lower credit score at the time (being a new to loans at that time) the loan rate would be 6.9%APR for the first 2 years. Then after 2 years if the loan had no missed payments or late payments they would drop the rate to 4.9 APR. However come the 2 year point the loan was simply dropped to 5.9. When asked why the stated since they no longer offered a 4.9 percent APR I could not obtain it even though it was originally agreed upon. |
