First I want to start off by saying I just happen to stumble upon this website and figured I would post my situation from past experience with the company because people work too hard to be ripped off. I acutally worked to National tire twice, the first time was back in 2005-2007 and second time was in 2010-2011. I hired in at as a tire technician making 6.50 plus commission. Now the Missouri minimum wage is 7.50 but they seem to get around that due to the commission which tops we would make 450-500 after taxes. I found better financial stability at another job and was laid off so I eventually came back but I was employeed at another location Ferguson,MO. I didnt figure out until after working for this company at the first location how shady the corporate guys like Brian Abney, regional manager who really pushed for sales. This guy would have us come in at 9pm for company meeting and have us watch useless brain washing videos on how we can inprove profit. He thought that we needed do more 9 point inspections even though people just want what they come in for done not realizing our issue was our location, Bridgeton,MO (Just started developing business; 2010-2011). When I came back to the company in 2010 at the Ferguson,MO location i actually was referred by my manager Deandre who is a great guy. The manager at the Ferguson location, Tony caused so many issues for me he first lied and told me specifically in the interview I would get payed $6.50 plus commission because I expressed I stayed in a area where rent was higher than average. When I hired in I didnt get uniforms until like 2 months later and didnt realize until my 5th check I only made $6.00 plus commission, and he swore up and down he never said that. Then he also went back on his word after orginally telling me I could start monday begging me to work the weekend that I was leaving town on a trip. This guy really was a bad team leader and manager, he would have charles a service manager close the store and open it the next morning on many ocassions. Tony was the store manager and I know for a fact if it wasnt a service manager closing the store it had to be a manager not the sales rep. This man would work evening shifts and sneak out at 8pm, leaving sean the sales rep by himself to close the store and we closed at 9pm! I know this because I was the technician closing with the sales rep and I was so frustrated and fed up I called corporate on him. They called me back recorded my side of the story and told me that I would recieve another call which I never did. These were the same people who were CORPORATE and said they were sorry but he obviously was favored so I was tranfered to a different location which is the address you see St. Peters. I called corporate because Tony came to me and said not asked "you are on the bottom of the pole and if I have to let somone go it will be you because saint peters needs a guy and I will transfer you". So I understood and replied "if no one else is willing to thats fine". I recieved a phone call from preston another technician telling me " "I want to let you know tony is tranfering you and didnt ask anyone else if they wanted to go". Preston actually want to go and so did Will another tire technician. I knew he had done it because he and charles didnt like the fact I stood up for myself. Me and Charles had a situation where he actually went against policy not even a week after it went into effect and wanted me to install two tires on the front of a car and I said no so another technician did it and I wont say his name because he was told to do it. I couldnt believe he tranfered me after I had worked late nights when I was suppost to been off hours ago and he forgot to schedule a tire technician to close the store. Now when I worked at Saint Peters I didnt mind because it was a convienant drive. When I got to this location I started out good and ended up having problems with that manager too because was no different than Tony and as a result he fired me for not having another tire technician sign off on my ticket verifying my work. I had never been written up but it was a automatic termination. This company does not care about tire technicians or mechanics and thats why the managers are snakes because they are saving their job by cutting costs, lying, and kissing Dave the regional managers ass to keep a job. These fools wont even buy wheel weights for the rims, they tell us its corporate not allowing them to purchase them but I know its so they wont lose money on theyre bonus. Then they have the nerve to push sales down our throat trying to get us to lie. A EXAMPLE is I had a customer at the saint peters location who had a new tire and I repaired the tire instead of installing a new one. The manager confronted the new salesman bob and said "dont do that". All I have to say is I learned alot and I will never for a corporation again. The bastards denied my unemployment so I hope they get sued and exposed.
