National Fitness Crossroads Fitness Crossroads takes momey, AGAIN Layton, Utah

I was an original member of this gym. I opened my account back in Feb 2009 before the gym was
even open. I agreed to have my monthly payment charged to my credit card each month. After one year I was told that my contract was fulfilled and that I would then be charged month to month. I had some travel issues that made it difficult to get to the gym for 6-8 months, but I kept paying that monthly payment. Then I moved and it was very hard to get to the gym. I went in one day and told the guy at the counter that I would not be able to come to the gym any more because of the distance. I asked what I needed to do. He said, "well your on a month to month deal, so if you dont pay you cant come in". Come to find out its now been three months and I get a call that I owe $80. This came as a surprise and I was confused as to why. I explained what the guy said and I was then informed that I had to send in a 30 day written letter to cancel. I told the woman on the phone I wished to cancel and she said they would cancel my membership as soon as I paid my $80 bill. I said, "so you wont cancel my membership, so you are going to keep charging me each month and make this amount even higher than it already is?" She said, "yes, you need to pay the $80 before we will cancel your membership." This pissed me off. I think it would piss anyone off. So now I told the lady, I will not pay the $80 because you are ripping me off. You will not cancel my account, but you will continue to charge me even though you NOW know that I want to cancel. This is BULL! This completely changes my view of this gym. They are shady, they have shady practices and DO NOT trust the idiot neanderthal at the front desk.
