I received an electronic quote and confirmations of this quote over the phone by their sales rep Brian of $60 an hour min. 3 hours for an out the door price of $180.00. I repeatedly confirmed there would be no extras fees unless I needed boxes and packing materials. The contract in red clearly stated what was included in the price. It was a complete door to door service in their words for this quoted price. It also included 1 hour drive time. This would equal 4 hours. The drivers arrived basically on time. They had me sign several forms and one of these forms it turns out was filled in with pricing after they loaded their truck. I mentioned to the lead mover that I didn't want any additional charges and not to move anything that would cause my bill to increase from the $180. They left behind several items that turned into several trips in my car later that weekend. They loaded what they would take in 1 hours then we drove the 1.2 miles to my new studio. This was a studio to studio move. When we got there they informed me that they would only take cash and their credit card machine was not working that day. I had made a deposit by phone when securing this company for the move of $60 but now I could not use that card to pay the $120 balance. They then scribbled up a new bill of $480 that I must pay in cash or they would not unload my items. I argued the additional charges. They were 2.5 hours of load time, 1.5 hours of unload time, and 1 hour of driving. He also listed a per stair charge. He said the law was the first 7 stairs are free but after that they charged and that was called valuation to the amount of $180.I moved from the 3rd floor to the first floor with an elevator. I let the sales rep know the stair situation and he still said it was a complete door to door service. I ultimately paid in cash the balance of $420 however at the same time called the cops. The officers that showed up said they have seen this same company scam others in the city and they read over my electronic contract and the one the driver wrote up determining I was being scammed. They made the driver return my money and I agreed with their moving company office manager to a total cost of $240 which is 4 hours of service. The drivers were extremely upset and threw my stuff on the streets and left. I then had to move the remainder of my things up to my new studio. Looking back I should have only paid $180 and not have felt bad about how long it took to work this out with the officers. I only paid an extra hour out of pressure from how upset the drivers were.
