Do not give these people your business!!! On June 18, 2010, I purchased a cookbook from Hotbooksale.com. Unbeknownst to me, when you make a purchase from them, you are automatically signed up for a monthly membership at the cost of $19.95 a month. Because my husband and I share our credit card and get paperless statements, this charge slipped by us for 16 months. He is an avid calendar collector, so I assumed this was a purchase he made when I occasionally noticed the charge. When we finally realized that we had been charged this fee for 16 consecutive months, we called the company...to be told they would refund only 2 of the 16 months of charges. I never purchased another thing from them besides the cookbook, and had no idea I was a member of this on-line store. I never knowingly agreed to it. We were told they sent an e-mail, if I wished to cancel. I never received said e-mail. I filed a dispute with our credit card company. The final outcome was that we received one additional credit...BIG DEAL...yes, that is sarcasm. This has been soooo upsetting. I feel like someone has stolen my credit card info, and has been allowed to make unauthorized charges...and gotten away with it. I have seen numerous complaints about this company on-line, and don't want this to continue to happen to others. They should not be allowed these business practices! In my opinion they STOLE over $259 from us!
