Monarch Productions Monarch Gives Back misled our nonprofit and falsified contracts Pasadena, California |

All of us at our nonprofit were thrilled when in April of 2010 Monarch Productions reached out to us to produce a festival that would not only promote social change and educate others on issues of equality, but to also help expand our organization to a national level. And to be told that we'd have the support of Lady Gaga because of their personal relationships, a champion of equal rights for the LGBT community, was also a no-brainer. Monarch Productions initially indicated we would not be responsible for anything other than managing our branding and to assist with messaging, but we were forced to step in and assist with securing talent, assisted with promotions/marketing, designed advertising, helped secure the venue, website design, daily deals, among other items. After learning that artist contracts were illegitimately signed in our name by Monarch's representatives, being asked to renegotiate the terms of Monarch's compensation for their efforts which would have resulted in Monarch Productions receiving half of all event proceeds (something we feel is misleading to the general public when touting this event as a benefit for a nonprofit, and unfair to us as weve now taken on the burden of promoting this festival), and after learning that Monarch attempted to move the event to a smaller indoor venue without first consulting with us which jeopardized our partnerships, it become clear that Monarch Productions isnt seeking to help promote our nonprofit, nor is their intent to foster change and an understanding of issues important to the LGBT community. Because of their negligence those associated with our organization were forced to step in and take time away from our service events. Monarch not only caused great harm to our organization as we are contractually obligated for costs associated with this event which they stated theyd cover, but Monarch Production used our good name to tout an event that clearly wasnt going to happen as everyone was led to believe. Theyve mislead not only us but our partners, supporters, and the public at large. |
