Mililani Toastmasters Beware Mililani, Hawaii |
27th of Oct, 2011 by User460340 |
Beware! Are you thinking about joining this Toastmasters Club? Do yourself a favor - spend your money and time toward something else better and worthwhile. The Club is not what it appears to be. It does not deliver. Also, there are fake smiling faces and misleading handshakes. |

HOORAY! Give thanks to this report and warning because it is absolutely the truth! This Mililani Toastmasters Club (#5244) currently meets every Monday evenings (7:30 pm to 8:45 pm) at Mililani Ike Elementary School Caferia (http://www.mililani.freetoasthost.us). Deceptive and dishonest activities from both the club's leadership and non-leadership. You'll be happy that you did the right thing with your decision to not visit and join!

OMG, this is so true! Two thumbs down for #5244!
I visited the Mililani Toastmasters during early 2011, and I have never returned. The representatives or leaders only want your money and push the application on you. They don't treat you as a human being. I would not recommend to family, friends, and business associates.

Two thumbs down from me!
I was a visitor in 2009 and 2010. I was smart that I did a second visit. Boy, I was glad that I did. The people and place were not friendly. They acted like they cared about you. Terrible service and would never recommend to anybody.

My club membership and dues ($48.00) is going to charity. I don't plan to return. I don't recommend the club due to a past bad experience there for me. |

|
I had a speech evaluation for a speech that I gave. It was biased and a farce as with the speech evaluations. Do not recommend to anybody to join or visit! Two thumbs down!!!

I too had speech evaluations and I found out that they were fake. It depends on who is the evaluator and how much the person likes you or not. My desire to learn how to do public speaking has turned to somewhere else where it is much better than Mililani Toastmasters 5244!!! I don't recommend at all!

To the contrary -- I have been with the Mililani Club for more that three years and have found the club to be friendly and open to everyone. I can't imagine any of the members or leaders being viewed as "deceptive" or "dishonest." Although Toastmasters educational material is clearly written and helpful to new speakers seeking to hone their skills, the organization is not a class in the way a Junior college class might be. It is a supportive environment where members each get an opportunity to speak and learn skills in a nonthreatening venue. Evaluations are generally geared toward emphasizing the positive skills that the speaker has used, but the evaluator also tries to give the speaker input on what they can improve on. Speech evaluators, like the speakers themselves are other Toastmasters who are learning while participating in various roles in the club. Some evaluators are more skilled than others - but each of them has the good of the club and the good of the speaker at heart. Mililani Toastmasters - like all Toastmasters clubs is a nonprofit organization. Of the $48 - collected every 6 months, $36 goes to Toastmasters International - and $12 stays with the local club (this is only $2 a month) to pay the rent for the facility we use. I believe all of the negative commemts were posted by one disgruntled person and am saddened by that. |

Ive been a member with the Mililani Toastmasters club for awhile and I can say that all the negative comments is NOT TRUE! What is true is we have members that care, we have members that love and supports, we have members that are committed to the program and we have a club that is fun to be around. Ive been with the club for over 10 years and this is TRUE FACTS! Ive seen numerous members grow as great speakers, Ive witnessed numerous club members get promotions from their jobs from being able to present themselves better via Toastmastering. Where else can you find a place to practice speaking in front of a group for a minimal price with an speaking expert providing you feedback to better your speaking style.
To everyone who is reading, come by and experience the fun, the joy and the love our club has to offer, but most of all the True Facts and what our club stands for. We meet every Mondays at Mililani Ike Elementary School Cafeteria from 7:30pm-8:45pm. |

I was a guest at the Mililani Toastmasters club last night and I found the club to be the most friendliest, happiest and most loving people Ive ever met. They invited me while they held their annual Christmas party.
The atmosphere was wonderful and full with love and warmth. I was very comfortable and felt welcomed by all members. I was able to speak in front of a small group and felt the support. The above negative comments being posted, I have found is so UNTRUE! I urge anyone who wants to expedite their speaking skills to visit Mililani Toastmasters. |

This is a great club with supportive members. Mililani Toastmasters has been in existance since 1983 - a strong club with experienced members to mentor new folks. |

I don't buy it with anything from the last four comments have to say. It don't matter if there is one disgruntled person or 1000 disgruntled persons from the club. What is clear to me is that there are underlying situations and complications within the club. I was with the club for several years. I left because of the silent and obvious mistreatment of others. I remember one of the golden rules there. If you have two or three visits and did not decide to join, you are reminded by others there that you cannot return until you pay up and give an application! Unless you are a friend or relative of someone there, you can stay longer. How welcoming is that??? If there is love and joy and fun there, why is the room never a packed house and people have complained??? It is not a strong club but a weak one at the very highest. There are other ways and venues to get the experience in public speaking from well-trained people. I urge you to seek them out! When you pay for something cheap, all you get are cheap tricks! |

Milillani Toastmasters is the GREATEST. Love this club and you will too! Mililani Toastmasters meets every Monday evening with the exception being over the Christmas holidays, so the next meeting is January 9, 2012. Mililani Toastmasters is also closed on any federal holiday. The club meets in the cafeteria of fabulous Mililani Ike Elementary School. Check it out if only to see the fantastic mural in the cafeteria. The people there are local from every walk of life and every age group, and always willing to meeting newcomers and support newcomers. Visitors can make unlimited visits, but cannot make speeches until joining the club. Love to see you there. |

The greatest Bowl Championship Series (BCS) game is January 9, 2012 at 3:00 PM until 8:30 PM (with post-game events and parties). The fabulous game meets in the Mercedes-Benz Superdome (formerly Louisiana Superdome) New Orleans, LA or on ESPN and ABC TV. Check it out to watch LSU Tigers vs Alabama Crimson Tide for the US National Championship. The people come from every walk of life and every age group and always willing to meet and support newcomers to the game. There's gonna be lotsa love, joy, and fun at the stadium and at my packed house in Wahiawa! I'll be there every Monday where the love is the greatest and its real to join. You're welcome to give a speech or two without any mistreatments. I'll never be at Mililani Toastmasters! Beware of this club!!! |
|
|
The stadium is gonna be packed for sure! This is the season for giving and my $48.00 has been donated to charity. I'm always willing to give to people who don't have much. I was a toastmaster at this club long enough to know what really goes on there. Be rest assured everybody who is reading this is to learn there are other clubs to check out. Like the many others before me, I don't recommend Mililani Toastmasters 5244! |

I live in Mililani and my packed house is ready for the BCS game on January 9th. We welcome newcomers to give speeches before and during the game. Come and talk about anything that makes you happy, excited, sad, or whatever. No recommendations to join and visit the club from me! I've been there and done that. It is true that the caferia is never full of people cuz of this and that. It is true that guests are told about 2 to 3 visits allowed before joining and they need make a decision to keep going there. There are no willing mentors cuz the very few people in the club are too busy and have jobs. There are retirees and unemployed people who have the time. Too bad!

I had a bad experience with one of the representatives at Mililani Toastmasters. He was rude and arrogant. You could tell he was into himself as a speaker and not really interested in assisting. He gave me an enrollment application when I didn't ask for it. He was too pushy and aggressive. He talked about how great the club was and all. It was an obvious sales pitch and trying to meet some kind of quota. I can't describe that the club is friendly and all. |

Mililani Toastmasters is a great club. I joined this club awhile back. I have visited two other clubs in the past. I think that Toastmasters are generally a pretty good group. It is not often that I have a chance to associate with people who are all interested in improving themselves. I have learned a lot while attending Mililani Toastmasters and I look forward to attending the meetings.
Our next meeting is Monday January 9th at the Mililani Ike Elementary School Cafeteria at 7:30 (sharp!) |
