Midas They broke my car! Columbus, Ohio |
27th of Oct, 2011 by User467140 |
I took my 1992 Ford Taurus to Midas on Saturday, 10/22/2011 for a simple front-end alignment. Well, it was not done. The mechanic did not use an alignment machine, all he did was eyeball it and he did not do a safety inspection. When he was backing it off of the ramp, the tie rod end fell off (which are brand new-both sides inner and outer), causing the car to bottom out which caused it to hit the concrete floor of the garage. This resulted in the power steering fluid leaking because when it hit the floor, something broke. When I took my car to them, there was nothing broken or leaking on it. My husband had to help them push the car to another spot, and, he had to help them work on it because none of them knew how to put the tie rod end back on. Five hours later, the car still wasn't done and we had to leave it at the shop. Monday, 10/24/2011, I called them to see if it was ready, which it wasn't because they said that it wouldn't turn left. I called my husband and he went there after he got off of work that evening to see what was going on and he said that they were hitting the strut with a sledgehammer supposedly trying to loosen it which resulted in the coil spring breaking. I filed a complaint on the Midas website using their customer feedback form about what they were doing. I received a call from Midas on Tuesday, 10/25/2011 telling me that my car still wasn't ready because a spring had broken. Wednesday, 10/26/2011, I received a call from the general manager telling me that they were going to repair my car at no charge. Well, they called me yesterday, Thursday, 10/27/2011 saying that my car was ready to be picked up. It's in worse shape now than it was when I took it to them. Now it has no steering, the rack and pinion is messed up, and there's not power steering fluid in it because of the leak. They supposedly replaced the strut and coil spring with a new one. Well, they didn't. They went to a salvage yard and got an old one and put it on the car. I would greatly appreciate any help I can get in getting this matter resolved and my car repaired. |
