MetLife Burn and Churn on the Representative!!! New York, New York
1st of Dec, 2010 by User935862
Ok, so I worked at MetLife for 1 1/12 years, started in Feb. 2009. I read a report from a previous employee on here, and I have to 100% agree. When you start with MetLife, you are just a number that has leads for the company. What they pay you to start..."THEY WILL TAKE BACK!!! When I left, I had to milk the money that was owed to me, which they paid me 10% per week of my commission pool. So when I left, I left $3,000 on the table, which was a weekly paycheck of $300 for the week before taxes. Even though I left that money there, I left with a smile on my face, I couldnt take it any more...Let me make this clear...with 3K owed to me, even if I made a sale where I get 5K commission, that would only equal $500 before tax plus the $300 before tax, hard to catch up without a big sale. So here's the deal, they pay you for however many weeks to get started...I was already licensed when I started with them. They want the list of 100-200 PERSONAL POTENTIAL, thats your lead source to generate new clients for the firm. Your manager is a closer who will go on appointments with you if need be, or you work with someone experienced so they can take half the commission if made ("50% of something is better than nothing") Say all of MefLife hires 100,000 people for the year, but there is a 92% turnover...follow me!!! Now say every person gives 100 personal potential. That equals 10,000,000 leads to the company. Now say 1 in 10 peolpe become clients for the firm, thats 1,000,000 new clients. But since there is a 92% turnover, only 8,000 representatives stay, and the other 92,000 people leave their family and friends with the company (orphaned clients)...BURN AND CHURN THE REP!!! METLIFE NOW HAS NEW CLIENTS!!! Now one more thing that isnt fair...not only do you leave, but you leave because you service orphaned clients for MetLife for FREE!!! Your car, your gas, your tolls, your time, your energy...for what??? The company says for potential sales, do a review. Its true, some sales are there, if you churn their life policies or get lucky with a healthy person who has money, but most likely you will service clients of MetLife for free, handling problems that the company created by there way of generating business. I to can go on and on about this, it should be illegal, its a way for the company to access people who put themselves on the DO NOT CALL LIST, and its using people to work for free and putting many representatives in very difficult family situations. Not on the sales, but on false promises.
