I purchased a commercial grade battery operated back packsprayer for my business. Bought direct from the manufacturer, here in the U.S. Main reason was due to a 5 year commercial warranty. Now my problem was outside of warranty butI wonder how difficult it would have been to get service hadI not been a paying customer?
Needed a replacement rechargeable battery and seal for lid of equipment. Called the local dealer and asked about ordering both items.Battery over $300 (remember this number later) and don't remember cost of seal. Thought battery price was high butI needed one that would fit in the area designated. Told him to order. A weekpasses by andI called him to see if parts came in. He acted like he did not know whatI was talking aboutbut said he would check and for "me" to call him back. A few days pass andI call him and it was like the last time. I could seeI was getting no where fast and I needed my sprayerworking to make our jobmore efficient.
Called the manufacturer, which was in Tennessee at that time, not Denton, TX. Asked about buying the parts. Said they did not selldirect but I said I bought the unit direct originally. Told me to call the local dealer. Told them we had already went that routewith no success. He saidthe dealer owed themmoney and was probably why he never called them ashe was cut off.
Told manufacturer I did not care allI wanted was the parts, could they help me. Turned me over to some one to handle the issue.2 weeks pass by and no parts. Called the manufacturer back. They would check. Another 2 weeks pass. Decide to take matters into my own hands and see ifI can find a battery supplier online. Bingo!! Found one and shipped battery and they built one for me for $96 + frt. (remember the $300+ earlier, quite a difference huh?). Get it in just a few days. NowI am back in operation but still have the seal issue.
Built a make shift seal until we could get one. Called back and talked to same person who failedto send parts before.Told him I had battery custom made.He said he would send the seal free of charge for all my problems.Months later and no sealhas arrived.
Bought a competitors sprayer for back up when thissprayergoes out of commission again. As my warning, if you are not interested in parts andI can imagine warranty service, I would not buy any Maruyama brand lawnequipment or sprayers. They operate well but when you need parts or service you can forget it. Go buy one that you canget parts online like Solo sprayers or Echo weedeaters, blowers etc...Save yourself the frustration.
