I recieved a call from these people today, and they were claiming to be from the law office of Marshal and Associates. I had missed the call the first time they called and after listening to the message, I tried to call them right back and my call was continually being forward to a voicemail, that seemed to be forwarded to a home phone or cell phone. After numerouse attempts and no luck getting through, they called my phone back. I answered and a man of a different nationality started speaking in a rude, and matter of fact tone. I was so confused as to what the call was all about, then he started in asking my name, stated my account information, that I had recieved a payday loan from Cash Advance USA, and I was going to jail. I tried to ask the original caller, what this was all about and he had already transferred me to someone named David Jones. When this man came on the phone, he stated the name of the law office and whom he was representing and went straight into a speal; I have an affidavit that I am about to read and DO NOT interrupt me, do you hear me? He said you will have the oppritunity to ask questions when I am finished, do you understand me? I stated "yes", but was so throughly confused, because I knew that I had not recieved any kind of loan. He read the affidavit, said that I had recieved a loan that was deposited into my account, there had been many attempts to my account, for payments to be withdrawn and the bank rejected the payment withdraws, and I was now being for fraud, bad checks and theft. I started to interupt at this point and he said; "SHUT UP", didn't I tell you not to interupt me till I was finished? He proceeded on with his reading of the affidavit and closed with; you will be arrested tomorrow and stated that a family member, whom he had also called, would be arrested as well. He said make sure you have an attorney and your bond money ready, cause you will need both of them, and hung up on me. I thought, I have a million questions and he didn't give me the chance to ask one. I called the number back, and stated to the gentleman answering the phone, that I had just spoke with someone there but I didn't understand the nature of the call and I had questions. He said let me look it up and asked my phone number, he came back and said yes, you spoke with David Jones and put me right back through to the same rude man. He immediately came on and started yelling at me; Oh you don't understand me, you answered my questions. I said I don't understand what all of this is about and he started yelling at me, calling me VERY profound names, over and over, and ended the call with; now you understand that don't you b***h, and hung up on me. I was so very confused at this point! I got on-line and looked up my account-NOTHING had been sent through my account, as far as a deposit or a bank draft. Still to make sure that I was not overlooking something, I got on the phone and called customer service, she looked back to the month of Jan 2011 and there was no deposits or bank drafts, from this lending institution. The agent that I spoke with said this truly sounds like a fraudjulent scam and you need to report them. I then proceeded to call the Keller, TX police department and talked to dispatch and she said that she had never heard of that law firm and she had lived and worked there for twelve years. She said since I was in another state I needed to contact the local police department. Which I did and they said it is a scam, there is a proper proceedure for an arrest, which includes a warrent. And a warrent is usually after there has been court proceedings and notification, on something like this. I contacted a second law enforcement office and they took the phone number in which I recieved the call and they were going to call and check into it further. I also contacted a REAL local Law Firm and they called to speak with them about this matter and as of right now, the phone calls have not been answered and when they call it is forwarded to voicemail. I am guessing that the law enforcement and Attorneys Office is not the people they are interested in talking to! If anyone recieves any calls of this nature, do not get upset like I did, but do make sure to protect your information. Pull a credit report (per the Law Office) making sure these people are not using your social security number. I am very nerveous about these people having all of my information and what are they planning to do with it? Does anyone out there know if there is anything that we can do as victims of harrasment and possible fraud?
