I was a former distributor of Market America, and I want to tell everyone out there the truth.
If you're reading this and you are considering "getting in"- I recommend you put your money into something more reliable - like a trash can. It will be much faster and you'll get the same result.
In a way, I'm glad I was in Market America, because now I can recognize a SCAM when i see one.
I was heavily involved with Market America, and I was in the "inner circle". I was involved with their entertainment sector, called "Conquer Entertainment." This was supposed to be a really great idea to market music, and I was at first really excited. However, this excitement turned sour when I realized what was going on behind closed doors.
Amanda Ridinger was their CEO of the entertainment sector, and also the daughter of their CEO, JR Ridinger. The way she ran this part of the company was terrible- she had no idea how to run a company. What was most telling about this whole business was the way that JR treated his daughter Amanda; she was treated like a red-headed stepchild. And if JR treats his own daughter poorly, just imagine what he will do with total strangers in his business.
He had another wife with another daughter whom Market America portrayed as the "royal family." They were always on stage in front of thousands of people, always dressing in gowns and expensive clothing, and putting on the ritz. However, Amanda was treated as the outcast of the family. Even though her millionaire-father had a penthouse suite at the Ritz Carlton, she was driving a beat up car and had to pay her way through school.
Now the Market America inside scoop-
When you see the presentation, it looks nice, but the reality is that Market America IS a LEGAL PYRAMID SCHEME. The amazing thing is that no one really catches on. They say that they're the anti-pyramid, but their compensation plan is still the same as the 9-5 job; they have a few people at the top making all of the money, and everyone else at the bottom of the pyramid paying those people.
My sponsor, who was making $7-10,000 every four weeks, had been in the business for four years. She had an entire group drop out on her, and I didn't understand why. After I dropped out I understood. After a year in the business, I made at most $450. I went to ALL the seminars, listened to ALL the audios, and spoke to ALL my friends about it. I recently had to go through my whole contact book and apologize to all the damage that I created with this business. I had to really get out of the hole I dug for myself with this business.
One positive result of my time in market america was the experience. Now, I know what brainwashing is. I was totally brainwashed into thinking this business would work. Now I see the brainwashing in major religions and all over the place. DO NOT GET INTO THIS BUSINESS! |

| Market America is a real company with a real opportunity to create ongoing income. I have been involved with the company for 9 years, having many satisfied customers and am earning a residual income. There are more than 400 people who have earned in excess of $1Million with Market America and thousands more earning strong five and six-figure incomes. However, I can understand this person's frustration, personal failure is always disappointing. It's easier to blame someone else rather than to realize one's own shortcomings. |

I can't get it, why & how you can make $450 from marketamerica.com, because, the commission from the business pay plan was $300 & $600 check, So where is the $450 come from? Obviously you don't even know the pay plan. If you don't know, you can ask, not complain, it wouldn't change anything. Like JR said, you don't know what you don't know about, and that will hurt you. So, looking into the business, learn from the successful people, if you don't believe this can money, you just don't need to join stay out of it. Because MarketAmerica.com is not taking you to anywhere. Like the job everybody doing, you have to believe your boss will pay you at the end of the month first, then you work for them. So if you don't believe it, don't even get a JOB!

| You all are brainwashed...maybe he is including retail commission. Lot's of distributors notice how Amanda is never up front you never see her in the magazines together with the family. Take the rose colored glasses off, I love MA products, people, pay structure but don't like all the requirements and please don't tell me it's business bull, you get nicked and dimed for everything from the shipping to the admin fee you basically only get paid on points by the time you pay all the fee's associated you get paid on bv and god forbid someone down in your downline forgets to do the stupid form 1000 you did your work for nothing, go get certified and spend more money there are so many distributor's spending lot's of money getting certified and going to training's they have spent $1000.s and don't even have thier two people. they have been at 180, 000 distributors for years now...hmm I am sure that number will go up as they go into other countries but there is other opportunities out there that pay better and don't have all the crazy requirements. |

I am not a distributor with Market America. I do like and purchase at retail price many of the Market America products through my daughter, Amanda Ridinger who is a distributor as well as Conquer Entertainment founder. I personally do not have a relationship of any kind with JR, his wife or his other daughter.
In my humble opinion JR does not treat Amanda "like a red-headed stepchild" as the original writer says. JR willingly paid for Amanda's entire college education while she earned an Associates and then a Bachelors Degree in Music Management. Amanda began Conquer Entertainment while she attended college and she graduated with honors. It is true that Amanda did not have the necessary experience when she began Conquer Entertainment. I was very concerned about her lack of experience in the beginning. However, over the years she has grown. Again let me say that in my humble opinion JR does not treat Amanda "like a red-headed stepchild" as the original writer said. It has appeared to me that JR has worked with Amanda and guided her, while making her stand on her own two feet, although I am an outsider and don't see it all. It is also true though that Amanda is not in the position financially that JR's other daughter is in, but to say he treats her like a stranger is absolutely untrue.
As far as the business opportunity goes, I can agree with some of what the original writer said and agree to disagree with other things. Please tell me any business someone can get involved with where they will not have to learn anything, or do any marketing, or spend any money, or do any work to be successful? I have friends and family who are only employees at NON-MLM corporations that market products and services and they are used to solicit customers by their employers as a requirement of their employment agreement. I've been solicited. Personally, I am more concerned with the brain washing that mass media is doing to peoples' buying habits, but that is another topic.
What isn't a pyramid? Who makes more money then the executives at the top of any corporation? The higher the executive, the higher the pay. The lower the employee, the lower the pay. There are a lot more lower paid employees at the bottom then there are highly paid executives at the top. The hierarchy of every business, government or organization seems like a pyramid to me.

| I understand the frustrations of this author, but the claims he or she is making about the company are pretty extreme. The statements in this post can actually lead to a lawsuit due to slander (libel since it is written). The author has no factual information to state that the claims he makes are true. If this person did their due diligence, they would find that it is a legit business and thousands of people that are earning a residual income from it could tell you the same. Since it is a business, there are costs to it. Every business has costs which can become writeoffs. I have been an Unfranchise Owner for about 14 months now and I would not consider myself "brainwashed". If you really looked at the simplicity of what is required, you arent really doing anything different than you do already . Nobody said this business was cost free or work free. There is some work involved but it's a lot more rewarding than having to work a regular job where you aren't paid what your worth. This business isn't for everyone so whoever wrote the claim, I understand why you blame your personal failures on the company. I suggest you take your post off before someone takes legal action against you since what you say is false and could be used against you. |
