Mark Ivens and Ivens Realty are thieves and crooks. They managed one of my houses for a year and a half and another 2 for 4 months. It really didn't bother me that their serivice was so poor because I like to help the smaller businesses anyway. They actually would call me every time something went on with the property, even on very minor things. So basicly I was paying them and doing their work for them. But since I live in CA and they are in TN I was just happy to have a contact there as long as they were honest. Well it tunred out they were very dishonest. The exact time that they had all 3 houses, things really went south from there. Mr Ivens would hold onto my rent money for 2 months at a time before I would ever get it. I called his assistant 3 different times to get this resolved to no avail. After the 3rd call to Mr Ivens some finally did come in but not all. I tried to make one more call to Mr Ivens. The secretary or whoever had floor duty that day, said she would put him right on the phone then came back and said Mr. Ivens wasn't there. At that point I was so far behind by the time Mr. Ivens returned my call I was already about an hour in the process of moving in a different direction. I faxed Mr Ivens and told him that I would still let him list my properties for sale (2 of the 3 he managed, I let him have on the market too), and manage new resident leases, but I was going a different direction in the management. In order to continue doing business with him I would need the rent and damage deposits current. None of the checks ever came in the mail. When I talked to Mr Ivens on the phone he said he wasn't going to give me the money unless I drew up a new lease. I told him that it was my properties, he was no longer managing them, and he would not make any ultimatums on my money he owed me, especially since all of the leases were expired and now on month to month. He owes me the deposit from all 3 properties a total of $1875, and rent on 2 of the properties. A total of $1425. That's $3300 this guy has ripped me off. Consumers should have more protection from crooked realtors like this. |
