Manchester Moving Quote dated 11-10-2009 reference # M328656

Move pick up date: 11-20-2009

Promised Delivery date: 11-27-2009

Actual Delivery date: 12-06-2009

Grievances

Final price of my move was substantially more than the original quote! Original quote (attached) was $2686.07 by Manchester (Samantha). Final bill was $6829.28 see attached.

2. I specifically asked (Samantha) Manchester Moving if the drivers stayed with my load until it was delivered in FL and her response was yes. When the drivers arrived they told me no it would go to Chicago and be reloaded on another truck. I would not have signed the contract knowing this but because of the timing of my job in Miami I did not have a choice to change at the late date.

When calling to check on delivery, I was continually told by Samantha to contact the driver. When I did, the drivers told me of continual breakdowns, and they had to deliver in Tampa and then Georgia before they could make my delivery. And they had no idea when I could expect delivery. When I called Samantha my original Manchester contact she would refer me to her boss who would say he would follow up and I would not hear back from him.

4.My pickup date was scheduled on 11/20/09 because I was told delivery on 11/27 was no issue and worst case it would be on 11/29. I needed to be unpacked and settled to start my new job on 11/30/2009. Delivery was 10 days later than the original quote! This forced me to stay in a hotel and to start my new job without being moved in!

Because of the late delivery I had to stay in a hotel from 11/27 until 12/6 at a cost of $1479.17 . See hotel invoice attached Pages 1 & 2.

In the original quote I was never told I would to pay extra packing for items the driver felt needed extra packing. I was told by the drivers when they picked up my items and I paid $521.50 in extra charges. They packed my Grandfather clock and Dresser Mirror and they still were damaged in the move See Pictures 28 thru 32 attached.

Every box was open and things missing. Every item was rummage through, and furniture was damaged with repairs over $1,000 estimated.

Missing Items:

diamond wedding ring set (Picture 2 attached)
diamond anniversary ring (Picture 2 attached)
diamond cocktail ring (Picture 2 attached)
Black Hills Gold cross (Picture 1 attached)
(2) 14 carat gold rings
of an antique butter dish (top half was in the box with paper stuffed inside and the bottom half is missing
missing clothing where paper was stuffed in the boxes that had been opened

Damaged Items:

4 dining room chairs were wrapped when leaving MN, unloading in FL, 3 were wrapped and one (1) wasn't, all were scratched and damaged (Picture 19 & 20 attached)
Jewelry chest was totally shrink wrapped leaving MN upon arrival in FL it had been opened, paper stuffed inside and one piece of tape on the outside to hold it shut. Items missing: wedding ring, cocktail ring, anniv. Ring, gold cross, rings. Missing items listed above.
I found paper stuffed inside clothing boxes and my clothes where filthy dirty with grease on them.
Dresser mirror was broken off and glued back on with glue all over the mirror (see Pictures 25 thru 28 attached)
Vacuum cleaner handle was broken off (see pictures 21 & 22 attached)
8 antique water goblets were totally smashed (see pictures 7 thru 16 attached)
Picture and mirrors had broken glass, all had been bubble wrapped, boxed and marked fragile. (see pictures 5, 6, & 33 attached)
Antique grandfather clock that I had paid extra for wrapping had broken legs upon arrival (see pictures 29 thru 32 attached)
antique pie crust table leg broken off (see pictures 3 & 4 attached)
brass bed rails broken off (see pictures 23 & 24 attached)
corner shelf top rail broken off (see picture 34 attached)
stereo speakers damaged (see pictures 17 & 18 attached)
Large palm plant was packed with large instructions, THIS SIDE UP and it was brought in upside down and died after delivery
In the rush to meet the packing deadline for the promised delivery date I had help packing. The jewelry items were packed by someone else and I didn't realize they were left in the chest until after the movers had picked up the items. The chest was so well wrapped it shouldn't have been an issue.

In the rush of trying to move a household and start a new job in a short time and never having moved across country before with emotional stress very high, I thought by choosing Manchester Moving I had made an excellent choice. They said they would work with me to make the move a smooth seamless one. In the end they only added an unbelievable amount of stress and severe aggravation to an already difficult time in my life. I'm now left with broken heirlooms and the absolutely horrible feeling that people have rummaged through my personal belongings and I'm now missing a wedding ring set. I was misled, I've been wronged and the feeling of grief is unreal.
