HORRIFYING EXPERIENCE!!! I would NEVER buy a car from this place again!! Anyone considering this place RUN RUN RUN!!! I was nine months pregnant at the time when I bought a Chevy Venture from this place. I wasn't particularly interested in this van but I was conned into driving 3.5 hours from upstate NY because I was told there was an 8 seater Honda Odyssey in stock in my price range. WHAT A DISAPPOINTMENT! When we arrived (around 7:30pm), I was told the car was not available(recently sold, etc.). Then, suddenly the salesman, "Al" remembered there was an Odyssey in stock and walked me onto the lot. The Odyssey he lead me to was basically a selvaged car. It had no seats in the back and was very banged up on the exterior. I explained to Al that being nine months pregnant with about a week left in my pregnancy, I needed an eight seater van today (my Nissan Maxima's transmission just went a few days before) and I was extremely disappointed that I drove hours away for this crap! Al then led me to the Venture. It looked decent on the exterior and it was the only eight seater van available on the lot. It was the luxury edition and seemed to be a good bargain. We attempted to take the car for a test drive and it wouldn't start. I realize this happens with cars, so I didn't fret about it. After 20 minutes or so, the car started and we took the car out for a drive. Al neglected to take our driver's licenses for his job compliance, and as we were riding down the main road we were pulled over. Al also neglected to put dealer plates on the van. The cop followed us back to Major World (we didn't realize he didn't put the plates on the car and it looked like we were in a STOLEN CAR) and when we pulled back into the facility, we were immediately ushered to a trailer for instant approved financing. At the time, I had a 750 credit score and I came to the facility with copies of my credit report pulled that morning. When they pulled my credit, their system showed I had a 620 score. As a result of the lower score (from their system) I got approved for a 11.5% financing rate. After all the financing shananagins, we returned to the car to check it over again and the vehicle wouldn't start. I told Al I would not purchase this vehicle until they changed the battery. He assured me the battery would be changed before taking the car off the lot. We returned to sign the paperwork. In the paperwork, there was a clause regarding a windshield protection/alarm for $900!! I explained to the finance manager, Glennys that I was not interested in the windshield system and that it should not be included in my contract. She said there was nothing she could do about it, it's installed on all Major World vehicles (what the hell is a windshield protection/alarm!!). She said she would try to get an override but would not be able to get it on that day because all managers were gone. By the time we left Major World, the facility was closed, it was after 11pm. I got in the car and drove to the nearest gas station (the tank was completely empty) one block away. When I got out to pump the gas, I shut the engine off. When I returned to the car to go home, the car would not start. I called Al on his cellular (he gave us his cell number) - he said he had already left and was on the train home. He then gave me the number of the manager/owner?? When I called him, he said he was on his way. About one hour later the manager returned with a battery booster. I asked him why the battery had not been changed and explained to him that I had been assured that it would be changed. He did not have an explanation only that I would need to bring that car back their service department. Within a five day time frame, we noticed the car was not functioning as expected. There were blown lights on the vehicle, the electricity wasn't operating properly, and the CD player was jammed. We had to replace the battery and the a/c, which worked during the test drive was now malfunctioning. I called Al and Glennys who both claimed I would need to speak with service from this point on. I told them I wanted a refund. They stated I was not eligible for a refund, I needed to bring the car into service. We drove back to Major World (3.5 hours!) and brought the car in for service. While we were there we noticed the service facility was overcrowded with cars from buyers who had all purchased vehicles from Major World within the past year. Everyone got jipped! Refunds were not being granted after the purchase and everyone was referred to the service department. There was one consumer there that had just purchased his Nissan Pathfinder that SAME DAY! When we arrived, we were told we arrived too late to be seen (can you imagine...). After some yelling and curse words, they assured us that our car would be examined. While waiting, we went back over to the financing trailer and I again spoke with Glennys about the windshield protection. I told her I wanted my money back today. She sent me to management who offered me 1 year warrantee instead. The warrantee could be used at any Chevy repair/dealership facility in NY. I was agreeable to this. From that point on, the van has been nothing but a big headache. In the three years I've had this van, we've had to change the head gaskets, the starter 5 times, the radiator, lightbulbs every week (we've received endless tickets for light malfunction), the front seat for electrical malfunction, we can't use the CD or DVD player, and only God knows what else. I tried to sue for lemon law, but under lemon law you have to give the dealer an opportunity to fix the vehicle three times in a 90 day period. At nine months pregnant and shortly afterwards, delivering a newborn; I did not have an opportunity to bring the car back to them three times (we did make it twice in the 90 day time frame). Two words will bring this to completion...BUYER BEWARE!!! |
