Magic Mesh
Magic Mesh deceptive advertising Internet
29th of Jun, 2011 by User996994
Per the advertisement on television one could purchase the Magic Mesh screen door for 19.95 and get a second one free. This consists of two mesh panals that part and connect back together with magnets placed along the middle edge. These two panels make one mesh door. Upon placing my online order I was offered the second screen door for an additional 7.95 shipping charge (I had already been charged this once for the first screen door ordered) so I declined the second door. They then made an offer to send me a second door for another 19.95 and I could skip the shipping charge, again I declined. I took the next offer to upgrade to a thicker mesh with a two year warranty for an additional $5.00. With my order complete and my credit card info. entered I was given my total. It came to just over $48.00. The order for the mesh door itself was 39.90, my upgrade was an additional 10.00, my shipping was 15.90 plus tax of 2.77. I live in California and this company is in CT. I usually am not charged sales tax unless my merchandise is shipped from a California address. I called the company for an explanation of my charges. Per Steve, the deal on television is to purchase only one panel so all charges are doubled since you need two panels for this product to even be used. Will never order from this company again.

DO NOT, DO NOT, DO NOT ORDER FROM THIS COMPANY. I went online to order to get the "buy one, get two and only pay additional shipping" and they charged me for 2, suddenly a product that is supposed to be $19.95 plus shipping and handling was $75.39!!! I never got a chance to "confirm" before it charged. Usually you see a total before you get charged. My only saving grace is that I didn't change the expiration date from the default on the screen so when I called the bank they assured me the charge would get denied because of the incorrect expiration date on the order.
I then did some research and found this site and several reviews on you-tube. It looks really flimsy, doesn't really fit any door and I think I can make my own version for a lot less than $75.39. Check out this review: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dEIwyO1sqog from an actual user that just installed it. She has two or three videos. Wonder how much she got charged???

I too was charged double, then called and they changed the order for me- very confusing and you don't realize it until the order goes through. I did not receive the order for over 6 weeks. It took me almost an hour to install and as soon as my dog went through the screen ripped from the top seam on the entire right side. I still like the idea of the product but poor customer service and extremely poor construction. Also while we were testing it out (before the dog did) the magnets kept sticking to the frame on our door instead of clicking back together. unfortunately the shipping costs as much as the product so it's not even worth returning. In the end you end up with a very expensive set of magnets. PLEASE DON'T BUY THIS!

I did the same thing. I ordered yesterday. I saw that two were on my order and I only wanted one (and that the shipping was more than the product itself). I called them just now and they said I was too late to cancel as it shipped already. I tried to tell him I live in a studio apartment and only have one door, not 4. He wouldn’t let me speak and got louder and louder saying that I didn’t need to say anything that they would refund me for the extra 2 that I ordered so I’ll be getting 4 of them for the price of 2 (which I agree there is no buy one get one free because the price of one is doubled when you check out. again I’m getting 4 and I only have one door in my studio). When I was placing the order and realized the mistake I’d made at selecting a second pair, that I tried to go back and cancel and there wasn’t any option to do that. I even tried to go back on the browser to change the selection. I couldn’t. I just got off the phone with them and the customer service rep was really rude. At the end I realized what a scam this was and I let slip “oh my, this is a scam”. he said what did you say. I then said nothing and could he just refund the price for the second 2. He kept on about me repeating what I had said and I said it wasn’t important and could he just refund the two additional ordered. He then told me the call was being recorded and he would later look at the transcript to find out anyway. Now, I’ve worked in customer service and not every call is recorded. So, it made me realize they probably get angry customers all the time and have to record because how can any customer not be calling in if they are happy? I’m so angry I wanted to file on the better business bureau and I can’t find the company’s real name. PLEASE DON’T ORDER ANYTHING FROM http://WWW.MAGICMESH.COM.

I ordered two Magic Mesh screens in August of 2011. The first screen was $19.95 plus $7.95 shipping and handling. I was offered a second screen for additional Postage and Handling. The order came to $35.85 One mesh screen covers one side of a sliding glass door - not the entire slider. Since the mesh attaches to the frame of the door - one side of the mesh (in the middle of the door) is left open. The mesh attaches to the frame at the top and one side by using velcro type adhesive strips. I used the mesh screen for two weeks and it started coming apart - where the velcro attaches started shredding. BTW - even two screens will not cover an entire sliding glass door. The second screen had pieces missing - namely most of the magnets. I tried to return the mesh screens and was credited $19.95, not $35.85. I think a class action suit should be started against this manufacturer so we can get all our money back. This is a horrible product.

I NEVER will order "As seen on TV" ANYTHING because they will always add a heafty S&H fee and when they DOUBLE your order, you have an additional S&H or processing fee. On the magic mesh for example, it's $19.95 plus 7.95 S&H plus another 7.95 for the "free"one when they doubled your order. You are now paying $36.00 roughly. I got my magic mesh for $9.95 minus my 20% off Bed Bath & Beyond coupon! Therefore, I paid a little over $7 including tax.

Wow - I got lucky. My experience re doubling of order and shipping charges far in excess of what was advertised was the same as all of the other complaints. However, by sheer chance I made typo in entering credit card info so got a letter saying order could not be processed - please provide correct payment info. Fat chance! Like I said - I got lucky! Do not consider dealing with this outfit!

10 April 2012 Beware ! The "Magic Mesh" is a BIG SCAM I was a sucker and decided to buy two of them. I should have been wary when they asked for my credit card before completing the offer. Two screens cost me $93 and some cents, not at all as the advertisements stated. To make things even worse, there are no installation instructions in the packaging.

Be very cautious when buying from television advertisements. If they ask for your credit card before the entire order is ready forget about it and put your money to better use.

Be wary of the Ezeyekeyboard advertised on TV they also ask for your credit card before you have your order ready to make payment,
