I hired Jeff L. Pierce, of The Pierce Law Firm, in Plano, Texas (which is near Dallas) in January of 2011. I was arrested for an assault charge that a former tenant falsified against me. The case has no merit whatsoever and the police agency that investigated the charge, did so VERY POORLY- Lancaster, Texas Police Department. Anyway, I was arrested on a warrant that I did not know about and immediately hired Jeff L. Pierce as my criminal defense attorney.
Prior to hiring Jeff Pierce, I interviewed approximately many criminal defense attorneys in the Dallas- Ft. Worth area. I paid Jeff Pierce $5,000.00 up front when I hired him- no payments, payment plan, etc.- ALL CASH UP FRONT. From January until around August 2011, Jeff L. Pierce did nothing except drag me from court appearance to court appearance every 3 weeks or so. I kept expressing my desire to go to trial to prove my innocence and I couldn't understand why I had to repeatedly show up every 3 weeks for nothing. I repeatedly requested that he investigate the case properly. We needed to interview witnesses, gather evidence for my defense, strategize my defense, etc. We met one time in his office in January 2011 and that was for the first initial "free consultation" that most attorneys offer to new clients. We never met in his office again after that in almost 10 months. I repeatedly requested that we get together and "strategize" on this case and try to investigate it- Jeff L. Pierce REFUSED. There was a 911 tape recording involved which would help my case; I repeatedly requested that Pierce obtain this tape from the District Attorneys' office in Dallas County from day one. Around November 2011, I finally recieved it after filing a formal Texas Bar Association complaint against him.
Around August 2011, Pierce requested another payment from me of $5,000.00. I had an issue with this because I did not know what he did for the original $5,000.00, and he could not detail his services and what he did for the $5,000.00. I requested a detailed statement of his services. I caught him in several lies regarding this so called statement that he provided to me. Shortly thereafter, Jeff Pierce filed a Motion to Withdraw as my attorney. I went to the hearing and I fought for my position. I outright caught Pierce in several lies and the District Judge in the Court ruled in my favor and made Jeff Pierce remain as my attorney. So think about this- I WON IN COURT AGAINST AN ATTORNEY- The JUDGE DIDN'T BELIEVE HIM WHEN HE TESTIFIED UNDER OATH! WOW- this guy is supposedly an OFFICER OF THE COURTS with ETHICS and PROFESSIONALISM! Over the next month or so, Jeff Pierce and his legal assistant, Ellen Perry, refused to return my phone calls and voicemails. Ellen Perry would not even answer the telephone when my phone numbers showed on their caller I.D. (This was proven when I called from both of my phone numebrs that they knew about, and then called from a differant number they have never seen before- Ellen Perry answered the phone and then immediately hung up when she heard my voice). I also have suspicions regarding Jeff Pierce trying to deliberatly SABOTAGE my criminal case with the Dallas County District Attornys' Office. I believe he called in a favor last week with what I believe is a CORRUPT ASSISTANT D.A. and attempted to complicate my case for no reason at all and place me in jail. Jeff Pierce has already spoken with several members of the District Attorneys office andseverely bad mouthed me and gave away our strategy for defense at trial- which is against the rules and ethics of an attorney. Jeff Pierce was playing games with me for the last few months- ever since he first wanted to get off the case and filed his Motion to Withdraw. He would not return phone calls, would not speak to me in the Court house, would not advise me of what is going on with my case or anything. I even caught him meeting with an Assistant District Attorney behind my back recently and about a month ago and I have reason to believe that this was for SABOTAGE PURPOSES to JEOPARDIZE my DEFENSE of my case. Jeff Pierce admitted to me about this meeting and he said it with a smirk on his face. Jeff L. Pierce also said this in a way that lead me to believe that he "talked" to the D.A. and deliberately informed him of certain information in the case and about our defense strategy. I FILED A FORMAL BAR COMPLAINT against Jeff Pierce. I have filed a Small Claims lawsuit pending against him right now for the return of half of my $5,000.00 retainer. Time will tell what will happen. I will have to hire a new attorney for my criminal defense. Jeff L. Pierce has done a real number on my case and I am extremely concerned that he has caused irreperable damage to this case. I have to try and pick up the pieces and move forward as best as I possibly can. Jeff Pierce, in my opinion, is a very UNETHICAL and CORRUPT ATTORNEY who lies under oath and does a disservice to his clients. Jeff Pierce has been CAUGHT in several LIES and he has complaints filed against him with the Texas State Bar Association currently. I am within my legal, constitutional rights to express my opinion regarding Jeff Pierce, Attorney at law.
