Ken Presner, Ultimate Zapper |
overpricing, shoddy components, lies |
30th of Jul, 2012 by hunghung |
I bought Ken Presner's Ultimate Zapper (UZ) in Sept., 2011. His website claims it is the best zapper in the world.
1. After only a few months of usage, 4 crocodile
clips of the 2 wires connecting handholds and footpads lost their gripping ability and the clips are so loose that they disconnect with handholds/footpads easily. Unfortunately, I forgot to read the fine prints at the time of purchase that wires and clips aren't covered by warranty (my
fault).
2. Same problem (but less so) for the crocodile clips that
are attached to the wires coming out of the main unit. I asked Ken Presner what
I should do about this and he responded by saying, "You can secure them with
rubber bands." I let you judge his product and attitude.
I am sure Ken Presner knew about the problem with crocodile clips fo years. Yet he has made no
remedy for this basic design flaw and has not warned purchasers of this problem,
which is bound to occur within a few months with usage.
3. Ken Presner claims his AC adapter is of high quality. I can't disprove this.
However, the adapter is made in China!!! How does he know it is of high quality
if he has no say in what is being produced in the Chinese factory (he is just a
negligible client of the factory unless he buys tens of thousands of AC adapters
a year)? Worse still, he had the audacity to charge $39.95 for my international
AC adapter, which he procures for only a few dollars at most!!! So much
overpriced!!!
My conclusion: See http://paradevices.com/ultimate_zapper_cheaply_made.html
to get an idea of how much is being put into the product. Read the crocodile clip
problem that I and others have and issue of overpriced AC adapter.
Parazapper, a competitor of UZ, is right that UZ is well overpriced. The basic unit (without
footpads) should be priced well under $99. The current price of $199.95 is
robbery!!! In any case, the claim of being the best zapper is a plain lie (how can a zapper be best if a component fails to function after only a few months and this part isn't covered by warranty?) and don't buy UZ unless the design has changed so that no crocodile clips are used. |
