I was looking for a Quotation for Brake Repair and made an apointment with Just Brakes in Mesa, AZ. They said they did most brakes for $99 and usually that's all there is. I arrived 9AM and asked for them to check the brakes, which was for replacing the pads and concern for the rear rotor. They gave some information, but added up a service bill that was $1050 - a lot more than I had hoped to pay; thus, I was looking at what I could do and could not do. While they were checking prices for parts, they took my brakes apart; then, when I asked about how the quote was coming (it was taking them 30+ minutes), they said they started the job already and it was going to be $850.00 plus tax. I TOLD THEM I NEVER APPROVED THE JOB AND WE HAVE TO DEFINE THE JOB PRIOR TO DOING ANY WORK AND, of course, I'd sign off on the work once we both agree to it - pricing and the items of work. Then, this guy, Michael gets all adjitated and says "okay, we're doing the work and you cannot have your car until you pay the bill". I at first declined, but figured I'd be left without my car, so I told him "I did NOT approve any work, but I'll pay the bill to get my car back". They were doing some work I was willing to do and talked about; then, they did other work I would NOT have agreed to; thus, they were conning me into doing work unintended and unwanted. I see that they are doing this to others, too, and suspect Just Brake trains their people to conn their customers into more work, unnecessary work and unfavorablely higher priced work, etc. Usually, they give you the option and attempt to sell unneeded work; however, in this instance I did not even get a chance to approve the work to be done or the pricing - this Just Brakes manager just took over and instead of explaining the work items threatens his customers. I am seeking redress from Just Brakes; then, will file complaints on-line and with the State Gov.; then, I am told I can complain to the credit card company if they do not resolve the issue by giving credit for the unwanted items and unnecessary work - I'm assessing which items are questionable now. Oh, I did call the Police and the guy pretended like he did; however, those police were hostle and one-sided; however, they did what I called to have them do - I GOT MY CAR KEY BACK and I refused to authorize the service - they thought they could force me to sign the authorization after the fact, but NO I did not and I will not ---- don't you get dupped, too, if this happens to YOU.. Sincerely,
