Early March of 2011 I put my 2004 Hurricane Deck Boat in the shop at Jones Marine. The motor had a miss in it. He diagnosed the motor and told me that an Optical sensor that controlled the timing needed to be replaced. I also ask that he check why the tachometer was not working. He replaced the sensor and tested the boat and called me to say the boat was ready and running correctly. The cost to repair was $680 , $129 was for a tachometer he ordered to replace mine and that it would come in about six weeks. I got the boat and brought it home and parked in my driveway until Memorial Day Weekend. When I put the boat in the water the motor was running the same as it was before I put it in the shop. I contacted Brian Jones that Tuesday May 31 to explain that the motor was not running correct. He commented that I should have ran the boat before now and he was busy building a house and his wife was about to deliver a baby soon and he would call me back. I called him on Wednesday and left a message for him to contact me. I called back on Thursday and finally got him and he said to bring the boat to his shop for him to look at it. I had the boat at his shop on Friday June 3 at 9:00. He said that he would run the boat and call me in about an hour to give me some results. I did not hear form him so I called back that afternoon and he had not gotten to take the boat out. This went on for a week. He finally told me that the boat had trash in the carburetor and that he would have to clean it all out and that it would take about 2-3 hours time. He did the work and I asked to test drive the boat with him this time. After he cleaned the carburetor the said is was still not running correctly. At this time he quit working on my boat because his wife went into the hospital to have a baby. I sent him a message that I needed to get my boat and he replied that I would have to pay cash for work done total cost $693. I have paid a total of $1300 and the boat is still running the same. |
