John the Manger of Firestone sold me a complete vehicle inspection for a 1994 ford escort 2dr blue to tell me everything that was wrong with the car. He call me with a long list that needed to be done to the car. I went over the list with him it was 3000 dollars worth of work. I had 647.00 dollars worth done. On the long list that needed to be done they never said the thermistat in the car on dash board wasn't working which meant the thermistate in the engine wasn't working either the fan in the front engine wasn't working either. Because he didn't tell me those things were bad on the car which are very important items to have fixed and inexpensive instead I went thru the list and did CV joint, battery, hoses, tires, fuel filter, and the high mileage oil change done to keep the car running. My son drives the car 1/2 mile back and forth to work. 10 days after having this done the head gasket blew on the car because the thermistat and fan wasn't working on the car. The Mechanic that came out to look at the car said it was broken for a while and that is why it blew. I had two mechanics tell me that Firestone should have noticed this problem with the car and it could have been avoided. I went back to Firestone talked to John all he said to me was they visually looked at the thermistat which they couldn't have. Told me I have on your list a coolant flush I said what does that have to do with the thermistat he didn't answer me and said I am sorry that happen to you and offered nothing to me. I called Firestone comsumer affairs opened a case with them. The Tampa corp office Manager called me at 7:50 AM Friday morning hoping I would anser that early. Told me the complete vehicle inspection that they do doesn't test everything they just look at it. If they looked at the dash board in the car they would have seen it didn't move when running so all they saw was money coming. So they sold me a false sense of security that my car was taken care of and now I have to pay 600.00 to fix it because they didn't do the job I asked them to do. The Tampa corp office offered me 275.00 back and said it would have gone anyway. This is not the only time I have had an iisue with this store I sent a Friend there for two tires and because she was able to get 2000.00 credit they told her she needed 2200.00 worth of brakes stuff to be done. Her car came out of the Honda dealership that morning and Honda didn't tell her that the brakes needed to be done. They only care about getting work done that doesn't need to be done at the moment. When she called Honda they said you don't need brakes we would have told you and sold them to you. So this is how Firestone works sell you stuff that is not needed and not fix what is important. So stay away from Firestone they will give you a false sense of security that your car is good to go. |
