I made the mistake of putting my trust into this Cleveland, Georgia dentist - John Jay Crumpton. I am a senior citizen on fixed income and have no dental insurance. I have seen this dentist from December, 2007 to the fateful day of March 2, 2009. He ripped me off by taking out good silver fillings to replace them with composite ones. He scared me into believing that decay would get into them, if they were not replaced. He never gave me any senior discount, and was rude to me. hindsight is 20/20 and I should have known better. I had two teeth growing in the same space. No other dentist I went to, in the past, ever said anything about those two teeth. He had a desire to pull them. He again scared me into thinking decay would get in between them. I allowed him only to take out the back one. I made it very clear to him that I wanted to keep the front one because I have TMJ and there would be an inbalance in my mouth if both were gone. He was visably upset that his "orders" were not listened to. Each time I went to his office, he would shake the tooth # 28 back and forth - as if he were trying to yank it out. That tooth remained in my mouth for 14 months since with no problem. John Jay Crumpton had a PLAN for me. I went in for a routine cleaning in late January, 2009. At the end of the cleaning, KETNA, the hygenist blurted out - You have a cavity! I asked her, which tooth the cavity was in? She replied , The tooth # 28. I said , That is the tooth I want to Keep. She said, That is the tooth he wants to pull. I told her I wanted to save the tooth. Crumpton came in and said he could put a filling in it. I put my trust in him, and for that I was stupid. On March 2, 2009, I went into the office for the Filling of tooth # 28. Crumpton numbed me up, and began drilling into the tooth. He never took an x-ray of the tooth. When he stopped drilling, I asked him, Are you going to fill the tooth now? He said, I want to take an x-ray for my own edification. Then, he left the room and some staff girl came in to take the x-ray. At first, she took an x-ray of the wrong tooth. Then got it right. That Dr. Crumpton had me waiting for over 20 minutes. I was upset, nervous, and not thinking straight. I asked every staff member, who walked by, What is happening here. I should have walked out the door. Again, I was stupid. Crumpton comes back into the room and announces to me, The tooth does not have enough bone structure to fill it. I have to pull the tooth. Then he pulled it. I had no say in this. I was deceived and tricked. I was crying and very upset when I left his office. That night, Crumpton called me. I asked him, Why did you not fill the tooth? He replied, in a very sarcastic manner, I did not want to hear you Whine and Complain, Dr. Crumpton, why did the filling come out? That is clearly no way to speak to a pateint or anyone!!! I have not been able to get a lawyer to help me. I filed a complaint with the Georgia Board of Dentistry, but got no where. I am in pain and do not have the $5,000 needed to fix the damage he caused. His insurance carrier, Cincinnati Insurance Company, who has a dental mal-practice policy on Crumpton, was rude and insulting to me. No one wants to help me. No one should be treated this way. I am a woman on a mission. I would like to speak to the news media about what happened to me. Anyone who feels they can help me can call me at (706) xxx-xxxx. |
