I unfortunately hired Gary to do mobile home repairs through a RRAP Homeowners Grant and I am now left with drywall ceilings in my kitchen that are cracked from one end to the other. Hallway and kitchen ceilings also have huge humps where 3 attempts at fixing the cracks were over mudded and the bathroom has seams that are showing up as grooved areas from being over sanded. Workers also almost set my home on fire by leaving a shop lamp on and pushed up against a shop vac. If I hadn't been home that day and smelled burning plastic, I have no doubt I would not have a home. I caught the burning in time to find the shop hose turned into a thin strip of plastic. Workers had left for a one hour lunch...I smelled the burning plastic within 5 minutes of them leaving. No apologies...no real concern except for the damaged vac hose. The workers also spread drywall mud 5 inches down wood panels in the bedroom and I am expected to deal with this! With regards to the ceilings, his remedy to the ongoing issues was to talk to me on the phone and tell me he found panel that he could put up in replacement of the drywall he installed. He sounded extremely pleased...said it was white and didn't need to be painted. Over a week later he shows up with a load of grooved wall panel that was a bleached wood colour and expected me to be happy! I did not allow him to install it. I did get very upset and told him there was no way in hell that I'd let him install that shite up on my ceilings. I emphasized that it was wall panel not ceiling panel and he left. I emailed him with a link to where he could purchase actual ceiling tiles and gave him two days to respond. Then I filed a complaint with the BBB. After a few emails back and forth through BBB, I sought out the advice of a lawyer and emailed one more attempt at conciliation. He didnt like it and said he would only respond to me through his lawyer from here on in. On top of all of this mess, he was contracted to update my electrical. I witnessed his worker installing 5 new light switches and plugs in less than an hour...did the math...asked him about the panel...he cried that he was already over budget. He charged me over $4600 to replace approx 38 switches and plugs...and got paid almost $4000 to gut and replace the ceilings. This definitely gives him the deserved rating as a scam! |

I tried to fix her trailer for her. She allpied for a grant to replace the ceilings. We did that and finished the job. She was happy and signed off on the job. Later, the ceilings cracked so we came back and fixed them. Later the ceilings cracked and again we came to fix them. Thehy cracked again and I told her that she may have to look at the roof structure and she complained to three different sites trying to ruin my reputation. She then decided that she wanted ceiling panels to cover up the ceiling. I refused to cover up a problem and she went off. I had offered her a full refund for the ceiling repair if she would stop complaining to ever site she could find and she refused. Now, I find another site she complained on.
Look at the BBB and decide for yourself. In business for 6 years and only one complaint, Judy Chartrand, that I attempted to resolve and she would not accept and full refund. |

Complete and utter bullshite! He has not...I repeat...has not offered to give me any type of refund. In fact, he has made up multiple excuses such as my roof structure being compromised. His workers gutted the ceilings and could see the underside of the roof! I heard from my roofer that JNL Reno workers actually told him to mind his own business when he questioned them about applying drywall on rotted wood...I had a major leak the year before, which is why I qualified to apply for a homeowners grant. The insulation was still wet...Of course there is going to be some damage...it clearly shows in the photos I took...my roofer advised them to add some strapping and 2x2's to fortify the structure before applying drywall and they said they didn't have it in the budget. How much do 2x2's cost??????? Right from the start, I told Gary Levis of JNL Reno and Repair that I wanted ceiling panel, not drywall installed on my ceilings. He agreed to that, but when the grant came through, he started cutting corners left and right. Complained about already being over budget on supplies...like I said...he was supposed to update my electrical and all he did was change out approx 38 outlets for the price of $4600.00. These outlets only cost $2.00 each...the whole job including labour should have cost at the very most $800.00! He wouldn't show me receipts. He avoided writing up a contract for the job...I had to chase him down and force him to sign a contract, which he finally did, albeit a blank contract! His workers smeared drywall mud down existing grooved wall panel in the bedroom 2 to 5 inches all the way around the room and now I am stuck with a huge ugly mess.
As for no complaints on BBB...he is a paid member! BBB is a business who wants to keep receiving money from members.
I will keep filing reviews and complaints on JNL Reno and Repair as I want other consumers to be wary of hiring this (...)...it's hard for me to even call JNL Reno a company...I could use so many other more words to describe what I think of him/them!
He received $14, 360.00 to update my electrical (he only changed out approx 38 outlets), remove and install ceiling panel in my kitchen (he installed thin drywall that is now cracked, and humped, hallway, (humped from too much mud and grooved from over sanding seams) small bedroom (smeared drywall mud down all walls) and bathroom (humped and grooved), install eavestroughs all the way around my home (one area is leaking), install a new hotwater tank (contractracted out - is fine).
He has never offered full payment! He did offer to replace the drywall ceiling with panel, but showed up with a load of grooved wall panel and I refused to allow him to go any further. I sent him a few links where he could purchase reasonably priced ceiling tiles and gave him two days to respond. He ignored that email!
No one in their right mind would accept grooved wall panel to be installed on their ceilings...No One! I have a right to be pissed off. I paid good money to have my electrical updated...I am still having to deal with outlets heating up...this was supposed to be remedied through an UPDATE...not a quick, cheap and easy fix that made this #!)0! a huge profit at the expense of my home and safefy! In addition, I now have to figure out how to clean up the mess of drywall mud smearing all the way around the wall panel in my small bedroom...it's a complete mess!
I find him to be a very deceptive person. Full refund...yah right...yet one more lie to add to the pile of other lies!!! |

Oh...with regards to his response where he says I wanted him to "cover up" the cracked drywall...I wanted and requested him to remove the drywall and install what I wanted in the first place...ceiling panel. I never wanted his mess covered up as the drywall including the repairs his workers did which are full of humps from over mudding...why install a proper product over this mess? I would never request this...nor would I allow this!
I may not be savy with regards to dealing with contractors or homeowner grants, but at least I know how to spell and express in detailed writing the problems I have encountered since the unfortunate selection of THIS so called Contractor! If there's one thing in life I can't stand...it's a bold faced liar, which Gary Levis definitely is! |
