Jeff Brown Inspections Jeff Brown Don't Believe he is a real Master Inspector Las Vegas, Nevada |

This guy was referred to us by our real estate agent. We had a lot of problems with our agent so it's not surprising that she would use a dishonest home inspector. When she told us the name of her inspector we looked at his website and he has a big logo on his site claiming that he is a master inspector. We thought that since all inspectors and the state of Nevada are required to be licensed we were getting a licensed master inspector. He did our inspection and found very little wrong with the home. After we closed and moved into the home we noticed that the air conditioner was not keeping house very cold and our electric bill was huge. We had an air-conditioning company come out to service the unit and see what was wrong and that's when we learned that the whole inside of the air conditioner in the attic was rusted out and needed to be replaced. The air-conditioning technician told us that it would be cheaper to replace the entire system than to fix the unit that was installed. He told us that we should have had a home inspection and that any competent home inspector should have found this problem. He showed us a pipe on the outside wall that had a huge amount of rust on the ground below it and said that our home inspector should have known that the air conditioner was rusting badly. We called Jeff Brown on three separate occasions and never got a return phone call. That's when we started checking into him. When we called the Nevada Real Estate Division, the people who license all home inspectors, that's when we found out that he is not a licensed master inspector at all. Apparently Mr. Brown is a member of some fly by night organization that allows an inspector to call himself a "certified" master inspector even though he is not a “licensed†master inspector. The Real Estate Division said that as long as Mr. Brown provides a differentiation in his advertising that he did not break any law. His master inspector logo is predominantly displayed on his website. However you have to look at the teeny writing under his photograph to see where it says, “Certified Master Inspector® as Issued by the Certified Master Inspector Certification Board, Inc.†We found out that anyone who is willing to sign an affidavit in front of a notary attesting to his own qualifications without anyone verifying it, along with $1000, can become a "certified" master inspector through this Certified Master Inspector Certification Board. I could go on and on about all the things that Jeff Brown missed on our home inspection. He is supremely incompetent and it is quite apparent that the only way he could get away with calling himself a master inspector is by exploiting the gray area that exists in the law. Do not be deceived into thinking that he is a master inspector. If your real estate agent refers this guy to you then you should look hard at your real estate agent too. Any real estate agent that would refer you to such a deceptive and misleading inspector is someone that you will regret having as your agent. |
