An absolute disgrace. This company specializes in employing vulnerable or powerless people who are either desperate for work or visiting this country and have no recourse to employment law and cons them into working for long hours, with minimal expenses and no accommodation ( forcing them to sleep in tents that are often, cold, wet and muddy ) . It purports to be a fair trade company but has no independent accreditation. It has on many occasions payed short wages, broken verbal agreements as a matter of course, short payed and changed working conditions without notice. The employees are treated as short term throwaway objects .
The founder and co-owner is an ex-showperson who has had years of experience on the market stall game and uses bully tactics to humiliate, intimidate and belittle travelling Australians and young idealistic hippies into working for her but after a short while or when business is slack merely dismisses them without notice, wasting their time often for two or three weeks and not compensating them. Of all businesses I have worked for this is the worst. Do no under any circumstances let your guard down, be prepared to be bilked, sold short and lied to. |
