I purchased home owners insurance thru my automobile insurance company, Progressive Insurance. I thought I was purchaseing Progressive Insurance. But, learned that a company called Ameriprise Insurance, but really it was IDS Property Casualty located in Wisconsin. July 2010, my BMW 740il was stolen on July 4 from an amusement park. The car was later recovered but damaged, and personal items stolen fromt the vehicle. We immediately called police, and filed a police report the next morning. Wen I finally received a copy of the police report, I filed an insurance claim on our Homeowners policy for the expensive electronics equipment, IPOD, and jacket that was stolen. We sent all receipts, proof of ownership, photos of the equipment in our house, and even a photo the the fellow that we suspect stole the car. In fact we forwarded all these items. IDS Property insurance quote Police report, July 4 Police Report, July 21. Police email July 7, PHoto of equipment PHoto of theft suspect sales receipts, Quotes to replace stolen items Third request for copy of Home Policy not provided IDS Property Casualty never sent us a copy of the insurance policy. Two request for the policy before the theft, and two request after the theft. Finally, after a complaint the the Oregon Insurance commission we finally receive a copy of an actual homeowners policy. IDS Property Causalty even lied to the Insurance commission about sending us a copy of the Policy before contacting them. If is now 3 months after the theft, IDS hired an attorney. I sat in their office for 3 hours giving a statement , anwereing all their questions, and was even threatened by the attorney. The attorney says we have not made a determination about the claim. 6 months after theft and IDS Property the attorney, and the IDS Claims Dept still have not made a determination. I filed a complaint with the Oregon Insurance Commission. Stated that I never received a copy of the actual Insurance POlicy; which is a violation of the Insurance Industries regulations. Stated that I provided every the insurance company ask me to provide. Did I mention that a representative from the Insurance company lied to the Insurance commission about actually forwarding a copy of the policy. I also stated I was threatened by IDS Property attorney. They of course deny that occurred. 6 months after the theft, IDS Property attorney states they now want copies, of my Federal Tax records for 3 years, copies, of my telephone records for 1 year, copies of my personal banking records. They state they have rights under the policy to ask for any records that they want to determine coverage under the insurance policy. Did I already mention I was threatened. Add delay tactics, add unreasonable presentation for additional documentation. 9 months after the theft, I received another letter from IDS Property attorney stating, "No coverage determination as been made at this time, still waiting for additional documentation". Has anyone also had this problem with this company? |
