I found this job by looking through the classified of the Syracuse paper. The shift looked good and it seemed like it could be an interesting job. I mean who wouldn't want to work in a sex shop? I went down the next day and completed the application, and was called for an interview the next day. I was interviewed by "G"(later found out that his name was George)...yes this is what everyone who works there or even customers call this guy. He looked like a pedofile or some sleezeball who would rape your dog if given the chance. I got the job. Working in a sex shop is not what it seems like it would be. Most of the time was spent "babysitting" homosexual men who frequented the video/ adult arcade for anonymous sex in the booths. Did I mention that it was men only allowed? At first the boss wanted all employees to make sure that they were viewing vids and not hanging out for free, which most of these guys did. After a few months these orders were null and void and we had to let them do as they pleased. This place has such a contradiction on its policies that my head spun. When ever you asked what had happened to the last employee before you ...you were always given another story and never a clear answer. Yet no matter how many times I heard how bad these people were, but yet they kept this one employee around. This black guy named Henry. He was illiterate, and very offensive and confrontational to customers to the extent that NO ONE shopped there if he worked that shift. Customers always complained about him. I was even set up so as it looked like me or another employee had tried to steal dvds that neither he nor I found entertaining. These people who run this place are filthy and will lie through their teeth. They only want temp workers that they can let go when they want. I was told my last day of work not to return. No explanation either. I did all that was asked of me, and beyond. I even stayed late with no pay because Henry was late getting to work. So if you or someone you know applies to work here don't say you weren't warned. |
