I decided to ship my car from new jersey to Arizona on December 30th of this year to start college at ASU. I've shipped my car back and forth from NJ to AZ twice and the prices range around 1,000 dollars, But I decided to try a new company. I found tristar trucking online and I did check if they where affiliated with the Better Business bureau but they are not. I decided to go with them anyway because I received a great quote price of 815 dollars. So I contacted Matt, my quoter, and set everything up and agreed to pay the 175 deposit. When I payed the deposit I asked Matt if it was included in my price and he said yes. I even have emails to prove it because I disputed the charges with my credit card company. Matt also said I can receive a discount by putting in a review at transportreviews.com. I did this and I didn't recieve a discount either. I even have emails to prove it because I disputed the charges with my credit card company. I was than told by Matt over the phone, that the 175 dollars was included in my quote of 815 dollars. He said to have the difference, 635, in cash or money order on hand at delievry. On there website they even include this equation of how they arrive at your quote. ($ amount it takes for a transporter to agree to move your vehicle + brokers fee = your quote) So if you plug in my quote of 815 and you subtract the brokers fee of 175 you get 635. I soon found out that this was too good to be true. I received a call from the trucking company and they said I owed 825 at delivery. When I argued about the price they said they can't do anything and that's the brokers fault. So I contacted the broker the next day and Matt, the guy who quoted me my price was no where to be found. I spoke with Carl who was completely delirious about everything and insisted that 825 was the correct price. Carl than brought up a contract and sent it to my email. He said since I paid the deposit I agreed to the terms of the contract. I never signed the contract and the next day my car was delivered and I had no choice but to pay the full amount of 825 because I needed a car for school. The trucker was very nice and said he's sorry but he has no affiliation because its an outside broker. Later that day I filed a dispute with my credit card company and with the better businesses bureau because I payed them money I did not have. My credit card company has since refunded the transaction of 175 for the deposit but during the process tristar trucking kept sending me emails trying to get me to sign the contract that I never agreed to or saw until I disputed the price. They even called me asking me to fax the contract to them. I want to get the word out about tristar trucking because this was a nightmare, and I had to spend my college book money on the difference between the quoted price. I called recently to ask for a full refund because of this nightmare process but they refuse and always tell me a manager will call me back. I hope people read this before someone else gets caught in this scam. Greg Scottsdale, Arizona
