I.C.S. Independent Contractor's Service FloRd Magazine Scam Delray Beach, Florida |
24th of May, 2011 by User102486 |
I was approached early on 5/6/11 by a gentleman named Randy. I was running on a few hours of sleep so my guard was down. He explained he was going to school and selling these magazines would help get through school. He was very charming and personable. He also stated how all these people in my complex had purchased magazines, but now thinking back there were not many cars in the parking lot that day so these people probably weren't home. I'm not a big magazine reader, but thought it was for a good cause and found a magazine my best friend would enjoy. I wrote a check for $17.50 and was told I could mail the remaining balance ($17.50) in within a week. I became busy and forgot about it. I remembered I needed to pay the balance in order to get the magazine, but something told me to look into this company. I then found all of these negative reports and am truly disappointed that there are people out there doing this. And what irritates me is, the company is based out of FL and I live in MD! Needless to say, they cashed my check. |

I have also been scammed!! Was told I could order for 1 year. Got the letter and called the company and was told it was too late to cancel. Half to do it within 3 days. They hire these kids that are so desperate to make a sell that they tell you anything you want to hear. Be aware!! I will take this further and will not let them get away with it. |

I placed an order, and foolishly paid cash for three subscriptions to magazines I had wished to gift my
daughter in Canada for Christmas. The sales rep told me that there would be no problem with having
them shipped, and I paid well over $100 for 2 year subscriptions. I wrote my daughter, and told her to be on the lookout for the gifts...they should have started coming in January. I started writing the company in March through e-mails to ask about delivery, and after 8 exchanges, "Amy" (the only person who works, apparently) told me that "it would cost us $30 per magazine" to ship to Canada, and they couldn't do it because "they aren't the publishers". I asked for my money to be refunded, and was told "Federal law allows you 3 business days to cancel a contract, it's too late". They haven't filled the order, and according to "Amy", there were no supervisors or managers to talk to unless "I made a request in writing". I did. 3 times. It is the end of June, and I have still not received either magazines, or my money back. This company is a fraudulent scam, and anyone tempted to deal with them should be warned. I feel sorry for the kids on the street, but when they come back this fall, I'm going to encourage the sales rep to reconsider his employment options. I intend to take this as far as I can. If an when a magazine DOES get delivered, I'm going to go to the publishers and complain directly to them. |
