Hotwire.com indicated a false / erroneous hotel location listing on the Las Vegas Strip. Internet |

I have used Hotwire perhaps 10 times over the last couple of years with quite a bit of success. However, in this particular instance, their site had advertised a hotel as being on the North Las Vegas Strip. Upon booking the hotel for two nights I learned that the location was actually OFF the Vegas Strip and not actually located ON the strip as indicated in the main, advertised headline. In Las Vegas, there is a big difference in hotels off of the strip mainly due to safety. As soon as you are on one of the side streets at night, there a much great potential for danger. My wife and I had planned to take two young children so it was of the utmost importance that we stay in an area that didn't pose any safety issues by walking outside of the hotel after dark. I had stated this to Hotwire in an email, and explained that I simply felt that their headline for the hotel property was geographically inaccurate. In fact, they have many listings that said 'Near Strip'. That was the indication to me that there was a clear separation in the hotel descriptions, and I expected that a description listed as 'North Las Vegas Strip' was in fact, exactly that. Unfortunately, I received a 'canned' response and was denied any type of credit or refund. I actually did not want my money back. I had simply requested a credit with Hotwire, giving them the benefit of the doubt for the error. At this point I have no choice but to contact my credit card company and dispute the charge due to an erroneous (read: FALSE) hotel location description by Hotwire. The main bit of knowledge I would pass to anybody reading this is to be certain that you do not use Hotwire if the location seems in anyway to be difficult to determine. Typically, they have a radius range that is used to determine location, but in this case they clearly either do not know the area very well, or made a mistake in their listing of the headline. I am a small business owner and when I have made a mistake, it is simple. I admit the error and work with the customer. Hotwire has basically ignored this simple fact of business.
