Homesite Insurance Company of the Midwest Homesite Insurance Scam ? Boston, Massachusetts |
25th of May, 2011 by User607737 |
I purchased a Homesite Homeowners Insurance Policy over the Internet thru Progressive Insurance Company which I have had Auto Insurance for several years, also possibly getting a discount for having both auto and home insurance. I paid $178.00 down for the policy immediatly. In, about a month, I received a Notice of Cancellation from the Homesite Insurance Company of the Midwest, 99 Bedford Street, Boston MA. 02111 telling me the reasons for the cancellation. I am not complaining about the reasons for the cancellation which was some peeling paint on my garage, no handrail on my front porch steps and some roof shingles were curling. What I am complaining about is that they Refunded me only $114.00 of my payment of $178.00 and kept $64.00. If they cancelled my Policy, what was the $64.00 for ? I know they are going to say I was covered for the period of time that it was purchased to the cancellation time which was about a month. I paid in good faith and they accepted my money without saying they were going to inspect my property of which they should have done before accepting my payment. It would have saved me $64.00 for nothing. I want to warn people not to purchase from Homesite Insurance over the internet. |

I purchased a Homesite Homeowners Policy on Aprl 30, 2011, through Geico Insurance, who I had auto insurance for years, Unfortunately, I trusted Geico to give me good advice, and regret changing insurance companies. A small fire occurred on 7/3/11 in upstairs closet, there was smoke and soot damage, and a burned shelf in closet. This was reported day of ffre and given a claim number and told an outside adjuster would come out, which he did 7/5/11 and took pictures of damage, I have called 800 number to speack to person handlling claim, and have not received any call back. It is now 7/19/11, and still have not heard a word. The policy is paid for the year, and worried about payment of claim, rate increase, or cancellation. I am very disappointed with Geico for recommending this company, and wonder if I can cancel them and whether another company will insure me because of this claim. I am going to call the outside agent again today, who I was not impressed with because he did take pictures and measurements of rooms, however, did not write any notes. This insurance company is definitely not on your side, likely, to not honor claim, or early cancellation. i WILL REPORT THIS TO INSURANCE COMMISSIONER. POSSIBLE SCAM? |
