I signed up with Eyewitness Security as my wireless ISP in June of 2010.They claim I have used over my allocated amount of bandwidth on their connection, which I can neither prove nor disprove the amount as they have no facility for customers to use to view such information- however I do fully believe that I went over the limit of 20GB he has told me about. However, the 20GB limit was not communicated to me until after using his service for several months- when they installed the guy just said if I wanted a faster connection to call them as they have several plans available. I haven't disputed the charges for the overages, and have offered to pay them. My account was at a current standing, however they still cut off my internet on December 1 without warning, claiming that they had no way to contact me as the phone number I had at the time of sign up was no longer in service. However, Norm Manness, the proprietor of Eyewitness, has called on several occasions on my cellular phone, therefore I did not find it necessary to call and update him on my number. As well, he and I exchanged several emails, which would have been a more than acceptable way for him to contact me. After contacting them via e-mail (I prefer to keep all communications with Norm written as he has a very sharp temper and horribly frustrating and arrogant tone), I was informed of the reason for disconnection. I agreed to pay the exorbitant overages and asked that he provide me with options for having my account put on a higher plan, and informed him of what his competition is offering and asked if there was anything comparative he may be able to offer me. He then responded that he knows "for a fact" that they don't offer what I was saying, basically calling me a liar. I then sent him a link to the plan, and informed him that I had spoken to them on the phone and verified all information. He then replied with an uninformed response falsely stating that they would charge me thousands of dollars in equipment and hookup fees, which I believe to be slanderous of the other company. I asked that even if there is no other plan available, to connect my account and I would reduce my usage. I stated that the reason for disconnection was that he claimed he had no way to communicate with me, and that issue had been resolved. The account was also current, with the exception of $15 that he claimed to be over 60 days past due. I'm not sure if his accounting problems are due to plain ignorance of proper accounting practices, or malice. I can forward what was given to me as an account statement for your review. You will see that payments have been applied for latest charges first, leaving earlier ones unpaid giving the illusion of being behind on payments, as well he has charged me for the month of December, in which he has not provided any service to myself. With him not willing to co-operate with me, he left me no choice but to cancel my account. I work as a Systems Administrator in Winnipeg, and require my internet connection for my employment. Norm Manness and Eyewitness Security were to provide a service to me, and have failed miserably. I firmly believe the failure is due to Norm's horrible attitude towards customers. I have heard stories of him contacting less technically inclined customers and threatening them with charges for overages completely out of the blue. These are families that would not be using anything near the limit he has given (which is very low by the way) for usage. I would like to see Eyewitness refund me the installation charge for their service so I can put that towards having a provider that will properly service me install their service at my house. I would also like to see Eyewitness provide a facility for their customers to view their usage statistics. My third request would be for their accounting system to be brought up to proper standards, that they be able to provide proper account statements and apply payments ethically.
