Ryan Hagen selling on ebay as home and pro studio sold a mac pro at what seemed a very good price. One configured like the one advertised would go for $600.00 more due to the computer having at least $500.00 worth of memory installed. I had to know it was too good to be true. He was paid using paypal and then I didnt hear from him for the next 3 days. A tracking number was issued but never scanned or shipped.
Once I told him I may be in the area he called me back in minutes on the defensive claiming he sold my unit to someone else. I did some checking in Ill an found out he has a regular pattern on one foot on solid ground the other on scam land by robbing peter to pay paul and guess what I was Peter. He uses the last money he got to buy the next computer and swap parts. He gets lots of returns due to the difference between the ebay listing and what customers really get.
Oh and guess what--- you pay shipping both ways plus a 15% restocking charge so he makes money 3 times even if he sends you a brick in a box. He tried to stall me into waiting until the return time had expired by asking me to wait and wait and as the work weeks and eventually a month go by Time was on his side as far as making it right after he runs out of excuses that is. You will be forced to file a claim with paypal. And do it before your window of opportunity is gone and then you will never get your money back Yes this is always a pattern with him. Buyer Beware when buying Mac equipment online they are known to be scammer bait.

In response to the account of the transaction that took place between Anthony Simpson and I, Ryan Hagen, owner and operator of Home and Pro Studio, I would like to mention that this type of defamatory behavior is harmful on many levels and it will be confronted with real facts and evidence. Under no circumstance is there a benefit to this type of activity, it's sole purpose is to negatively effect my ability to do business. It is my understanding that these types of consumer protection websites are just that and clearly there is no attempt to protect anyone here. I am not perfect and I am fine with honest testimony, but for those that go out of there way to accuse me of fraud, it will not go without consequence.

Anthony Simpson purchased a PowerMac G5 Quad (not Mac Pro as mentioned above) on December 29th, 2010. Prior to purchasing the unit, he requested that the item be shipped to his work address, to which I agreed, forfeiting my seller protection.

Over the course of the next week, after issuing a tracking # I had a situation come up that required me to change the ship date. Tony tried to phone me on Saturday January 8th after not receiving the unit, I had not communicated with him at this point. Tony says above that he notified me that he "may" be in the area, his exact words were, "I am driving to the Crystal Lake area today, I need an immediate response from you."
I called him right away and responded to his email, Once I reached him, I was not defensive, I was apologetic for the poor communication and we had what I believe was a civil conversation. I told him that something had come up, the machine intended for him needed to go elsewhere and I did that because within a day or so I would be receiving more units, which had arrived damaged. As bad as this is, it was the truth. I informed Tony that I had a couple units arriving on Monday or Tuesday, I can call you when they arrive unless you would rather have an immediate refund. I did understand his anger but wanted to assure him that I would take care of him. We hung up agreeing to leave it be, and I would call him Monday once another unit arrived. Again, he declined the immediate refund.
In my email response to him, I had mentioned that customers were returning these units because they were buying them by mistake, unaware that they are not the later model Intel based machines and before going any further, I was making sure this was the unit he wanted. After reading the email, and apparently after our phone conversation Tony, without another call or email, filed a complaint and dispute with paypal documenting a series of false allegations. Below are his remarks copied and pasted..
1/8/2011 12:34 PST - PayPal: Buyer escalated this dispute to a Claim.
1/8/2011 12:34 PST - Buyer: Multiple addresses and multiple phone numbers non working
1/8/2011 12:24 PST - Buyer: this Ryan Hagen is not an authorized Mac service person authorized to configure Power Mac systems for sale
1/8/2011 12:14 PST - Buyer: Here is his response due to the changing specifications which are unacceptable >>Dear zeropointbmi, Hello Tony, I apologize for my lousy communication here. I have run into a buzz saw with receiving damaged computers which has caused this delay. I could not avoid shipping your machine to someone else, it was all ready to go but I had one go down. I had two coming in so I figured, no big deal. I did get one on Tuesday and one Thursday and of course both packaged very poorly and badly damaged. I always have these units, I buy several a week so I thought at the most, I would hold this up 2 days. I am expecting two more Monday/Tuesday and may acquire one locally so Monday I will ship one out. Again I am sorry for not keeping you in the loop. On a side note, a few have been returned recently because people are buying them under the assumption that they are intel machines, you are aware that this is a power pc CPU? Ryan - homeandprostudio
1/8/2011 10:43 PST - Buyer:"Unsatisfactory explanation for delay in shipping. Computers are pieced together and sold from other computers no direct address to account. Seller unsure of what or when solution would happen. Item does not exist at this time in configuration listed in Ebay listing"
All of this occurred within 2 hours of declining a full immediate refund that Saturday morning. To add insult to injury he went on to post this here on scaminformer the very same day, January 8th. After finding it April 20th, I looked at Tony's Ebay feedback and sure enough, within 3 days of getting a refund via paypal, (Once his dispute was filed I can no longer refund him) he purchased an Intel based Mac Pro. He bought the wrong unit and lied through his teeth to make it look like he was the victim when all he had to do was call back and change the order or ask for his money back. Pretty amazing..
Tony, I can count on 2 fingers the times I have dealt with such a scenario in 6 years of being in business, you were not hard to identify. You actually had a legitimate gripe, I should have notified you days before I did, but instead all you have done is provided the opportunity for others to see your lack of integrity and character. For future reference, a valid claim is usually supported with screen shots of emails and information backing up your allegations. Anyway, I assume you received the email I sent you on April 25th, 2011 asking you to remove your posting or provide an honest account of your experience or I may seek a legal remedy. I hope you do that because it is counter productive to vilify good people I do make an effort to do good. I appreciate your words about my price being too good to be true, I'll take that as a compliment.. |

User530843 figured out Hagen's Modus operandi.
Additionally, Ryan tries to make it look like he is the victim...
If that doesn't work he'll try to throw a Bible at you...
This grifter buys Bstock (returns) from the CDW Outlet store (aka MacWarehouse) and sells them as new.
It is sad to see that he still has to steal and cheap to do business after all these years...
It is good to see that customers are starting to catch on to his scams. |
