Home Depot Bait and Switch Internet
30th of Nov, 2011 by User469638
Home Depot has a promotion on to have customers sign up for their Home Depot Credit Card. The "Bait" is: Get our credit card today and you will receive 30% off on your purchase. The "switch" is: after getting some basic financial information the clerk regretfully says, "I'm sorry, we can't complete your credit application today. You will receive a letter requesting additional information. This accomplishes two things. First, they don't have to give the 30% discount, and second, Home Depot now has information to contact the customer about their credit card. After all, who wants to have a declined credit card application? In my opinion this practice is dishonest and should come under investigation from governmental fraud control agencies.
