Dear Sirs, I am writing to inform you of my dissatisfaction with the service at the Counter of Hertz Rent a Car at the Nicaragua Airport on 07 September of this year. On September 7th 2011 I made a reservation online through Orbitz.com. My reservation was approved and I received the following quote Car Information Trip Name: Managua 09/07/11 Driver: CLAUDIO MONTENEGRO Rental car company: Hertz Confirmation number: F2241082233 Car type: Economy Car Pick-up date: Wed, Sep 7, 2011 11:00 AM CST Drop-off date: Thu, Sep 8, 2011 11:00 AM CST Pick-up location: Hertz Autusto Cesar Sandino Airport Managua NI Drop-off location: Same as pick up Base rate $20.00 Taxes and fees $14.50 AIRPORT FEE: @ 10.00 USD TAX @ 4.50 USD ________________________________________ Total car rental estimate $34.50 USD* Amount paid at reservation $0.00 USD Amount due upon rental $34.50 USD Base rate and taxes and fees Unless otherwise specified, all costs are provided in US dollars. * This amount is based on information available at the time of reservation. Weekend daily rates applies to Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays, and often Mondays. Any additional days will be charged at the extra day rate. All rates are shown in US Dollars on this page. Rates in local currencies may be displayed by selecting a rate from this page and then viewing the details of that rate. General Rules: AFF LA LOW TIER DY Car rental reservation phone number(s): 505-223-31237 800-654-3001 The quote states that the charge for the one day rental is for $34.50. But when I arrived at the Nicaraguan Airport to pick up my car, the person at the counter announced that I had to purchase a compulsory “third party insurance†which was not listed in the quote. I could not rent the vehicle unless I paid an extra $12.99, that being the cost of the Compulsory Third Party Insurance. I was very upset and I explained to the person at the counter that my reservation did not state any additional charge for Compulsory Insurance. He didn’t have an acceptable answer for me, and I was forced to take the car and pay for that extra insurance. The charge for the rental concluded in $49.44. Could I please ask you to look into this matter? It is at my most concern. I feel that Hertz is operating under unfair business practice by keeping information from their prospected clients in order to receive reservations and once they are at the counter they are charged with additional fees. I look forward to hearing from you shortly |
