halfcosttix.com Company was supposed to provide discount movie tickets, but left me empty handed at the theater Internet |

I ordered some half price movie tickets from this company on Thursday Jan 6 2011. I received an email with a CONFIRMATION NUMBER, and was told I would be provided with a ticket code that would be redeemable at the theater. I was told the code would arrive by email 60 minutes before the scheduled showtime. I waited at the theater, and 45 minutes before the show, no codeshad arrived. I emailed the company. Ireceived an email telling meto "wait some minutes". 10 minutes later (now 35 minutes before my showtime) I received an email telling me "sorry discount etickets sold out today for your selected movie". What?? They were going to leave me hanging and not even bother sending me any notification that they were not providing the promised tickets. In the meantime, my movie almost sold out and barely got any tickets. They also advertise that the means of payment that you use to pay for your tickets is with a Amazon egift card made payable to halfcosttix.com in the ammount of the ticket cost. I thought I would give it a try, it failed. BEWARE OF THIS SCAM! You will be left hanging at your theatre with no tickets!

Interesting... we've actually used this service a few times, even as recently as a few weeks ago and each time we picked up the tickets at the box office with no issues. The theatre (Century) printed them out and gave them to us. Is this an isolated occurrence with it selling out? |

I also have had positive experience with this company. I have used them 3 times, the most recent one today for the midnight show of Green Lantern at my local theater. Each time, it worked fine. This last time, I was able to pay using an Amazon gift card, emailed to them. I think the first and the second time, I might have used a credit card. as far as I know, they did not scam my credit card. I have read rumors elsewhere that they scam some people's credit cards and then use that to purchase tickets from Fandango. But I have seen NO evidence of that. Anyone can claim anything on the internet (including, I suppose this very comment).
My experience has been I have saved approximately $16 on 6 adult tickets, 4 bargain matinees (approx $8 there) and $8 for this midnight show, which was full price 21.50. I paid $12.25 with the Amazon gift card. It might be true that it is too good to be true, and that someone is losing money, but I would need to see some hard evidence of this, not mere complaints.
As for this complaint here, nothing works all the time. I have found they alway respond to emails, and one time when I was concerned that the above complaint would happen, I emailed them and they responded with my confirmation number right away. |

I had a horrible experience using this website. It's embarrassing trying to argue at the box office with no one to back you up. I printed out the tickets at home and they said Fandango. I called Fandango and was told that they canceled the tickets because they were purchased with a "Bad" Credit card. I told them that I paid using paypal and they said they didn't accept paypal payments. Beware. |

Apparently this site uses stolen credit cards to purchase the tickets, and then charges you half price, and pockets the money. That is probably why the purchase got canceled. The person whose card they tried to use probably reported the card stolen prior to them using it to purchase the tickets. |
