Grumbine's RV Beware of this Dealership, Could care less about there Customers, Harrisburg, Pennsylvania
6th of Jan, 2011 by User686325
my hope is that somone will read this and be willing to do somthing about this.

on november 22nd 2010 i was browsing on ebay and ran across a listing for a used rv for sale i am disabled and receive ssi so i don't have very much income and i was looking for somthing that maybe i could afford it was a 1979 coachmen rv so i bid on it and won the auction at $2175.00 now keep in mine i did not expect much for this price so i drive from west virginia to the dealership in pa about 3 to 4 hours away i got there around 5pm it was just starting to get dark so the salesman meets me inside and the saleslady there wants to take care of the paperwork and i said i would like to take a peek at the rv and the salesman takes me outside to it.

the thing to keep in mine here is that i already agreed to buy it when i won the auction on ebay this is the rules of ebay so i step up in to the rv and it feels like iam walking on a sponge soaked with water i look up and the ceilings have been replaced and are now drooping and falling down there was no mention of this in the listing and no mention of the floors being weak and very soft so i started it up and my god the exhaust is leaking very bad and so loud you could not hear yourself talk and this thing was bone dry on gas in there description of this rv there was no mention of this or any pictures showing these problems also i noticed when the salesmen was backing up to park it that the tail lights were all goofed up

they did mention in there listing that there was no generator in fact i did find a generator so to me that shows me how much attention was payed to listing this rv the listing on ebay is all i have to go on if the dealerships listing is not truthful or if they are notdisclosing problems that is grounds for a disbute for item not as described and that is against ebay rules so i have know choice but to carry thru with my obligation to purchase this rv and after doing so in my opinon this rv is not safe for the road so i leave it at the dealership and on the way back i was so upset from being screwed over by there false and misleading description of this thing that i called ebay on the phone and told them i wanted this transaction stopped and that i would get in touch with the dealership and inform them of it

so i called them the next day and ask them in a polite manner if they would please refund my money and they could keep $90 of it to pay there ebay fees and they flat out refused now this is a dealership that sells 60 and 70 thousand dollar rvs and has many chains of stores around the world and they are that greedy that they would refuse even a partial refund this just blew my mind it just shows the kind of world that we live in when a muti million dollar outfit refuses a refund of $2100 there is not other word for this but wrong

so i did what i thought was best to get myself out of this and i list this thing on ebay and i tell all that i know of the problems this thing have but i could not get it sold even at $1800 dollars and on top of that the dealership is now claiming that they will start charging me storage for this thing so i keep relisting it on ebay and i finally sold it for $1600 dollars and paided ebay $85.00 for letting me do that the person i sold it too is aware of all the problems that i was able to find in my short visit there and they were included in my listing as they should have been when the dealership listed it

so today i sent a request of payment from the dealership thru paypal in the amount of $590.00 again they refused this is the amount i loss on the sale payed 2175 plus tags and tax total of $2190sold for 1600 i lost$590.00 not counting my gas for driving up there and the hassle they have caused me since the purchaseall because they are such a bunch of dishonest and uncaring people with millions of dollars who go around ripping people like me off...oh and by the way i am rich also i receive $674.00 a month to live on and i would not treat my worst enemy the way they have me

I find this "scam" very funny and hard to believe. I'm sure this man did not mention that he called back and threatened to "kill all you basterds". He called multiple times saying he was going to line up all the employees and shoot us all. This gentleman had plenty of time to back out of the deal. When he was asked if he was ready to move forward with the deal, he said yes. When he was counting out the $2190 in cash, he didn't stop. When he was leaving and said I'll be back to get this in 2 days. Why did he then try to relist and sell the unit for $2600 when he relisted on ebay? Why did we help him resell the unit and helped the person buying it? Why did he also then bid on another unit we had on ebay? You paint a perfect picture of yourself, but come on! Two sides to every story, it's too bad there are 5 witnesses to one side and one very distrubed one.

As the Sales Mgr for the dealership in Mr. Dye's complaint, I feel very compelled to file a rebutal because of some false accusations made by him with the whole transaction. I believe him to be very disillusioned of the process and his request.

Mr. Dye indeed won the bidding on a 1979 Coachmen Class C motor home on Ebay...details stating that it needed TLC and being sold 100% As-Is. We did list issues that were wrong with the unit, but not every single detail, because in fact, it is a "1979" motor home. Anyone with common sense knows that a 32 yr old vehicle being sold as-is with no reserve will have some issues. But there was NO exhaust leak!! This was verified by the driver he hired to come pick up the motor home. Mr. Dye has made this part of his excuse for not wanting to take it.

The customer was given the opportunity to view the motor home before he paid or signed any papers...just like we do with all our customers who won a bid on ebay. We have had customers who have won bids, came in to go over the unit, and if it was not to their satisfaction, did not take it. Mr Dye indeed viewed it, LIKED it, and then proceeded to sign all necessary papers and pay for it. What he is not mentioning in his complaint is that when he went home, he placed another bid on another motor home we placed on Ebay and won that bid as well. He tried renegotiating one purchase for another which we couldn't accomidate him with.

Mr. Dye had chosen to leave the 79 Coachmen at the dealership not because of it possibly being unroadworthy, but because he had no means of getting it home. The motor home was traded in from a customer from Georgia, who had driven it to our dealership 3 weeks prior. This is why he felt the need to hire a driver, who I met with for the reason of needing to quote Mr Dye a price for transport. During this time, the customer listed the motor home on Ebay for $2300 for him to sell personally, which I have a copy of his listing, not $1800. So his intention was to buy this and resell it for a profit. What I question is: How is the dealership responsible for the loss of profit from a vehicle a customer now owns and tries to resell? Does this make any sense? He wants the dealership to cover his loss from the sale. I told him that the dealership is not responsible for his personal loss. This is the reason for refusing to pay him $590.

He filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau for the non-payment of $590, which we are an accredited member of. We complied with the BBB's investigation and supplied all supporting documents, which they later found his complaint to be unwarranted and dismissed the case. This was also a fact he failed to mention.

Another fact he has failed to mention was his threatening demeanor with phone calls and emails. He stated, "and the hassle they have caused me since the purchase...", which is completely false. Mr Dye has called into the dealership several times threaten the employees and myself with physical harm and the possibility of "taking everyone out." I have 34 paypal requests all with notes from him with threats, which I have saved for the use of filing a restraining order against him since I know am questioning his stability. Unfortunately for Mr Dye, I have kept record and supporting documentation on all activities since our initial transaction.

These forumns are great and needed for consumer information and protection. I am very thankful that a site like this does allow for a rebutal because sometimes, especially in this case, you can't believe everything you read.
