Greenland Financial Alliance Hot Scam In Washington, District of Columbia |
9th of Nov, 2010 by User546909 |
On October 28, 2010 I applied for a loan on the internet in the amount of $6000. On Friday, October 29, 2010, I received a phone call from Benjamin Sutherland representing Greenland Financial Alliance. Mr. Sutherland informed me I had been approved for a $6000 loan from a third party lender. Since I was at work, this message was left on my cell phone. I returned Mr. Sutherland's call on November 1, 2010 and discussed the terms of the loan and was told he would be faxing me a contract the next day. On November 2, 2010, I retrieved my fax from a local Staples, signed it and faxed the signed copy to Mr. Sutherland on November 3, 2010. Mr. Sutherland called to tell me that in order to receive said loan I would need to send $960 + $86 western union fee to Peter Leich in North York, Ontario, Canada. I did this on Friday, November 5, 2010, and confirmed this with Mr. Sutherland who assured me the funds would be in my personal banking on Monday, November 8, 2010, no later than noon, 3 PM or 5 PM. No funds were received in my personal account, but I did receive a call from Jason Walton (Greenland Financial) who told me Mr. Leich's insurance company have reviewed the terms of the loan and required another cash wire in the amount of $960 + $86. I sent a second wire transfer on 11/08/2010 for this amount. At 11 AM on 11/09/2010, I recieved a call from Mr Walton stating Mr. Leich had broken his end of the contract, but Greenland's CEO, Sean Gibson, had contacted another lender who guaranteed my loan 100%, plus an additional $6000 if sent them another $1900. At this point, I told them to refund my money and I was no longer interested in a loan. Mr. Walton told me my money would be returned to my account on November 26, 2010. After spending the entire day researching this company and talking to the state division of banking, the federal division of banking, the Better Business Bureau, the state attorney general's office and a multitude of other resources and many complaints filed later, it appears my money is gone and no such company exists. |
