Golling Chrysler Joe Ellsasser Lease Turn In - Electronic Signature Scam Bloomfield HIlls, Michigan
14th of Dec, 2011 by User202246
I turned in my lease car on 4/25/11. I drove it to the dealership, dropped it off, and drove a new car off the lot. The turned in lease had a damaged headlight. I had planned on just turning it in and paying the damage fee. I figured it could not be that much. My sales person had me sign electronically for the turn in form. He said his body shop could use the work and could they just fix it. He said the turn in date would be unaffected. I gave him my Visa card number and figured that was it. Boy was I wrong. Less than a month later, I received a letter from a finance company saying I owed $500: $200 for a damaged headlight and $300 for a rental fee. I called my sales person and he said that he would fax them the purchase turn in agreement showing that I had turned the vehicle in on 4/25/11. The finance company called me back a few weeks later saying they had received nothing. After 2 months and 2 more calls to the sales person, I was nowhere. Except now, the sales person quit the dealership and I was dealing directly with the general manager. And, by that time, the finance company had turned it over to a collection agency. As it turns out, the dealership body shop never fixed the vehicle. Instead, they waited until 5/12/11 to electronically file the lease turn in agreement. Once they did this, it signaled to the finance company that I was 3 weeks late turning the vehicle in. Once I found out the headlight was not paid for, I made arrangements to pay the $200. The general manger has been about as uncooperative as one can imagine. He continues to say that he has my electronic signature next to a typed in date, as if that is some sort of smoking gun. I have emails from the sales person saying that I had turned the vehicle in on time. The general manger is now saying that the Body Shop manager handled my lease turn in, which is a lie. He says the Body Shop manager told me I would owe $500 and I agreed to pay it. I have never met the Body Shop manager. Why would I? I've only dealt with my sales person there for the past 10 years. My guess is that he is involving the Body Shop manager because the sales person gave him my car to fix. For whatever reason, he did not fix the car and decided it wasn't worth the hassle. So, 3 weeks later, he looks up my lease turn in document with my electronic signature and closes it out on 5/12/11, not realizing the consequences this would have. I cannot believe that the general manager, Joe Ellsasser, has ever been to a sales training class. He should write a book called "The Customer Is Always Wrong Because I Say He Is." Beware when you turn in your lease to get a hard copy with the date of your turn in so you do not fall prey to this scam.
