I moved into a new home earlier this month. I choose Georgia Natural Gas as a service provider to heat my home. After waiting on hold, I gave them all of my credit information, personal contact information, and after I selected a plan, they informed me that my service could be turned on in approximately 5 days. I asked if there was any way to connect my service sooner because it is the beginning of winter and my house was very cold. They told me there was nothing they could do. They offered 4 options to get my gas connected in 5 days. I could leave a door unlocked, someone over the age of 16 could let a technician in my home, I could leave a key outside, or they could call me 30 minutes in advance.
I choose the 4th option being that I worked not too far from my house, I did not have anyone that could be at the house between their targeted hours, and I did not feel comfortable leaving my door unlocked for a company I had not done business with. What they failed to inform about this option is that I would only receive only one call from the technician and if I did not answer this call, my order would have to be reprocessed and I would have to reschedule an appointment. When I called Georgia Natural Gas about my missed call they said I would have to reschedule my appointment and the next available date is in 5 more days. My house is 48 degrees inside and now I must wait another 5 days. No one should have to wait 10 days to receive heat in their home. When I called to file my complaint with Georgia Natural Gas, they did not care. They told me that the technician called me twice and I did not answer and there was nothing else they could do except reschedule for later this week.
I have phone records to prove that I only received one call from the technician and no voicemail was left. I also called the technician back who said he was 3 minutes from my house but there wasn't anything he could do. He did suggest that I call my marketer (GA Natural Gas) to see if the order could be reprocessed for today. He could not help me because he worked for Atlanta Gas Light and they do not sell or process orders. Atlanta Gas light only turns the gas on and off. So I called back Georgia Natural Gas. Again the service representative with Georgia Natural Gas said there was nothing she could do. She gave me Atlanta Gas Light's number and shunned me away. Please do not let this type of business go unnoticed. I have been without gas for 5 days now, and I am not scheduled to have gas for another 5 days. My house is 48 degrees and I have no other options. I hope blankets will keep me warm enough until my rescheduled install date. |
