Do NOT deal with Geoff White/Choice Automotive/Tampabaymotorsports2012/West Coast Auto out of Clearwater, Florida. He may also be in Odessa, Tarpon Springs, Spring Hill, and/or Tampa. Geoff White is as dishonest as they come. My husband and I bought a 2004 BMW X5 from him December 10, 2011. As soon as Geoff was funded, his communications became nonsensical, erratic, and dishonest. He lied about the condition of the car, shipping the car, and the location of the car when we tried to arrange for our own transport. He would not send us the title. After weeks of receiving the runaround from him, we learned that he inexplicably titled the car in Florida. We are Virginia residents. When the car was finally delivered nearly one month after we purchased it, it was readily apparent that it had major, undisclosed engine damage. The engine was lurching and leaking massive amounts of oil. Geoff described the car as "flawless." The radio does not work, the heat does not work, and the panoramic moonroof does not work. The car has 3000 more miles than disclosed. He sent us temporary tags that expired January 12, 2012, so we have an undriveable, unsafe, unregistered, and unlicensed car leaking oil in front of our house. We could not get tags because the title is tied up in Florida. One estimate called for replacing the engine at a staggering $25,000 (we paid $15,000 for the car.) His lying is pathological. Strangely, he stays in contact with you while he is scamming you. Though the substance of his communications do not make sense, I think part of his scheme is to stay in communication with you and lie through his teeth to buy himself more time. He also has an assistant named "D" or "D Frye." We are not sure if this person actually exists, but someone purporting to be "D" also contacts you using Geoff's email address and carries on the ridiculous, nonsensical communications. The communications from Geoff and "D" would have been sort of funny if it did not involve $15,000 - they are not particularly smart or sophisticated. When Geoff is confronted with a lie, he immediately tells another one that makes even less sense than the one before it.
Run far, far, far away if you see his name.
We had to contact eBay's Vehicle Protection Program - it is reimbursing us for the car and shipping costs. During eBay's negotiation with Geoff, it shut down his Choice Auto account and he opened up the tampabaymotorsports2012 account on January 5, 2012. eBay shut that account down as well, but I have no doubt that he will try to resurface on eBay to defraud others. This has been a nightmare. We spent hours trying to untangle his lies and piece together the truth from various sources. One theory we have for the delivery delay is that he was trying to get the car to start before he shipped it to us-hoping that we would not discover the major engine damage until we had the car in our possession for a few weeks. It would have been too late at that point for us to pursue recourse through eBay. He has a civil attorney because he is the named defendant in multiple civil lawsuits. I believe he used to operate under the name West Coast Auto. Check out the Lee County, Florida docket. This guy is a scamartist, and a third-rate one at that. It is only a matter of time before he becomes the subject of a criminal investigation (if he is not already). I hope that soon Geoff will lose his ability to issue licenses and titles in Florida. If you are dealing with him and you read this, you should consider yourself warned.
I don't have the energy to include other details, but I have written about the major points. I am thankful for eBay's vehicle protection program and continue to have faith in eBay. I will buy another vehicle on eBay - the only bright light in this ordeal was the courteous, responsive, diligent, and professional dealings we had with the vehicle protection program. |

| I bought a restaurant off Mr. Geoffrey White in Cape Coral Florida in September of 2010. He only owned it for 3 months. The sad thing is I bought it on the day the original owners were going to foreclose on it. I had loaned him $36, 000 on other deals. He put a check for $16, 000 into my bank account. The check cleared and proceeded with the purchase. Then went off for the weekend to celebrate with my wife. Somehow he stopped payment on that check and deposited another check into myxaccount which also bounced. The money was se urged with a promissory note on another night pub he didn't really own. 2 years later he is trying to sell my deli to someone else. This guy sill be put in jail. I need you to contact me if you've been s annex by this buy. I ha e several business owners and contractors that've are already on board to file a class action suit again.St him as well as the IRS and Department of Revenue. Geoff is back at it!! He is threatening to sue me because I figured out he was a con artist on the day before he was to move into my house. He is selling on eBay again and has a dealership in Augusta GA.http://autosourceunlimited.org/

Do not trust Geoff White, Justin White, or Cindy Hall. They pass the buck and make promise they never intend on keeping. In summary, I received a vehicle with 97k miles on it that died 5 mins after being unloaded off of a transporter--diagnosis, bad starter and undersized/bad battery. Cost me $1200 to get the car running just so I could drive it to work. Then I took a closer look, the following was determined bad:
-Tires, three brands on the vehicle! wrong size on rear
-Defective battery, bad cells and undersized
-Bad Starter
-Filthy air filter ----- don't trust these guys when they say a vehicle has been 'maintained' well
-AC leaking at compressor, estimated $1500 repair
-Windshield and rear glass missing rubber trim around windows
-Headliner falling down
-Headliner on sunroof panel missing, glue showing
-Power mirrors, driver and passenger sides are both inoperable
-All wood interior trim is cracked in multiple places
-Hood repainted
-Passenger rear quarter panel has hole drilled in door jamb where body repair has been performed
-Service Engine Soon light on- bad ignition coils and spark plugs
-Radio Display 1/2 illuminated
-Power Outlets are inoperable
-Passenger rear door does not lock/unlock with buttons or remote--electronics inoperable
-No manual, no 2nd key, no floor mats----although I'd expect no frills from an auction house like Autosource Unlimited, so expect to pay for the little things!
Geoff promised to get this car delivered to me in a day or two, said he had trucks coming my way all the time (I'm only 5hrs away). It took nearly 3 weeks of back and forth for them to finally deliver the car, and at a higher price than promised--which they would not reimburse.
I still have not received a title either, it has been almost a month. |
