Holiday Lights, supplied to Walmart by Genfoam plastics come with a 3 year warranty on the box label. I keep those boxes and sales receipts, taking advantage of the warranties, since we all know how long Christmas lights tend to last. This is the final year that these particlarl sets are under warranty and I attempted to have the lights replaced by Genfoam.
In a series of emails beginning Nov 21, 2011, I began by asking if Genfoam would honor their warranty but waive the right to have me ship the product back to them. The following thread of conversation between us included denial that warranty applied, a request for copies of warranty and sales receipt (complied), and a 2 week silence from the company which ended when I accused them of ignoring me. Following was a stated attempt to find and ship new product to me, an admission that they were out of stock and another short period of silence after I emailed a possible solution. There came an email request for my telephone number (complied). At this date, there has been 2 full business days (interrupted by a weekend) of silence.
Today, I took the emails and the product to Walmart, who did what Genfoam would not. They responded! This would be one instance a least, of the 'evil Big Corporation' doing the right thing. In this case they had to cover for one of their suppliers. I hope that the managers of this local superstore will take note, but I doubt that this will hit the proverbial radar.
It is a small thing, which is my point exactly. Genfoam would not admit to failure to honor their own warranty. They would rather I just go away, which I have now done. I suggest you do the same.
