General AC Maintenance winds up costing you everytime! Greenville, South Carolina |
5th of Dec, 2011 by User844400 |
We were having some trouble with our air conditioner not cooling like it should, so we looked online and found General AC. They made an appt. for us for the very next day and the service tech was very friendly and knowledgeable. He talked us into signing up for a maintenance contract for both of our homes (ours and one we maintain for my mom). The contract included cleaning 2 times a year (for both homes) and a discount on future services and parts. We thought this was great. The 1st scheduled contract maintenance, they came out, cleaned the unit and left. When we went to turn the unit on, it wouldn't come on, so they were called and came out within 2 hours. It cost us $250. We also had to pay $80 at my mother's house for something they found missing the day before. We never had any other issues until the next scheduled contract maintenance. My mother's house costed us $250 for some parts they said she needed. And when they cleaned our unit and left, it wouldn't cut off. The house got up to 92 degrees and we finally cut the switch in the fuse box. 2 techs, being called crazy and $371 later it was fixed, but all of my complaints went unanswered. The last tech was supposed to have the manager call me the next day (he didn't leave until after 5pm). No call.. my husband called and left his number..no call. I stopped payment on the check figuring that would get their attention, and it did. They called 2 days before Thanksgiving and left a voice mail. But it was to discuss the check, not the situation. My husband finally talked to them today 3 times. The only courtesy they are giving is is dropping the $30 check fee. I'm sorry, but maintenance with something going wrong once might be ok.. but EVERYTIME they come out.. no way.. Avoid these guys like the plague! They'll call you crazy ("there's no way the cleaning guy jiggled those wires, you're crazy"). I'm not crazy I watched him clean back there, pull the wires here and there, etc.. I don't let people in my house without knowing what they are messing with! I believe wholeheartedly that they should have at least claimed 1/2 responsibility for the repair. Instead, they chose to deny it, and hence, lost a customer plus the 2 I referred to them. I won't do that again... |
