Gamestop Won't Buy Unopened Merchandise, Accuses Customers of lying and stealing Wal mart just as bad columbus, Kansas

I received a free xbox 360 from Amazon for ordering a computer from them. I received my computer, and then received a code to enter on Amazon to have them ship my free xbox 360. I had no interest whatsoever in an xbox, but figured I might as well spend $50 extra to meet the purchase requirement, get a computer that was a little better and then sell the xbox. So the xbox came and I let it sit, unopened for about a week while I decided what to do with it. It was selling on Amazon for $200 and I didn't really want to fool with the craigslist bozos, and I thought I might wind up giving it to someone as a gift or at a really reduced price. Well, everyone I would have given it to already had one or didn't want one. So after about a week of it sitting around, I decided to take it to Wal-Mart. It was never opened, so I didn't think it would be a big deal to get at least a store credit. Everything was going okay at the exchange counter, I almost had my gift card. Then the girl had to call over a CSM. She proceeded to tell me that I only had fifteen days to return electronics, and had to have a receipt. I had a receipt, but it was from Amazon. I assured her that it was bought last weekend. She said, "okay, no receipt, you give us the time and day and we will find you on security cameras buying the xbox. Then you can have the refund." I told her I had to call my grandparents that bought it for me and find that out. I left the store. Then I went to Gamestop. I told the clerk I wanted to know how much they would give me for the xbox. She looked at it briefly, and said that since it was never opened, they couldn't buy it. Said Wal-mart asked them not to buy unopened merchandise because it was all clearly shoplifted from them, and the shoplifters were trying to convert the goods into cash. I pointed out the fact that if I was a shoplifter, wouldn't I be aware of the policy, and simply take the cellophane and packaging off the product before bringing it in? I mean what would I care? If I stole it, wouldn't I be just as happy to get $100 as $150? I left the packaging intact as a show of good faith that the item was brand new, and was never touched since it left the factory. What's their deal? They could've given me $150 and sold the thing for new. But I guess they can't stand paying a fair price, so they want everything opened so they can invent problems that detract from their offer. Guess they can't fabricate lies about the condition of the product if it's never opened, so that's why they won't buy. Never mind the fact that the 'used' xboxes are all like $150-175. I probably would've taken a hundred from her if she had offered it, just to be done with it and get some quick cash. I wasn't picky. And if I really was a thief, I could've opened the package, and returned later when there was a different clerk or sent someone else in with it. What a stupid policy that is meaningless and easily defeated. So anyhow, I went the Craigslist route and got $150 the same night. Buyer didn't get charged taxes, and either gamestop or wal-mart lost a sale due to me. But I cannot believe how Wal-Mart and Gamestop accused me of being a liar and a thief. Is that how they retain customers and cultivate relationships with potential customers? I'll never buy anything from gamestop, ever. Not that I want it, but I know I could buy some of their stuff as gifts. Forget, I'll just do Amazon.
