Had some jewelry stolen from me. I was able to track the items back to Facet Jewelry and Pawn. When I approached them they were so nice nice, but the moment I mentioned the word theft, they circled the wagons and clammed up. I filed a police report and went through all of the procedures. I was told by the Sheriff's office I could reclaim my property. When I arrived to do so, I discovered that my property was "misplaced and/or maybe scrapped". All the while, there it was in the display case with a $200 price tag on it. I was assured just a few days prior that everything was safe. I was also told that they "facet" never received the paper work from the Sheriff's office. Of course when I pointed out my ring, I was told, "Oh that isn't yours" A phone call and a couple of weeks later, I again go to Facet to retrieve my property. (I made sure there was no paperwork issues this time). Lo and behold the paperwork was proper and my property magically reappeared. After about 30 mins of typing and walking away, I was told I need to pay $24.00. I needed to pay $24.00? When asked why, I was told that it wasn't their fault that I was robbed. Ok. I'll agree to that, but they did fence stolen property. But wait. I have the police report that says they only paid the thief $19 for the jewelry. It would seem that Facet made a $5.00 profit from my being robbed. And there's more! They had the audacity to hand me a legal release form stating that I wouldn't sue or report them to the state for buying stolen property. I refused to sign it, at that time the clerk actually tried to hold a quarter that I had as change hostage and threatened to call the police on me for theft. Me, stealing my own property that I just paid for! I was told that the release was to protect them, I asked who protects me? I was told that was my concern. Then their protection is their concern, not mine. If you do business with Facet, be warned: If your buying, there is a good chance your buying stolen goods. If your selling, they will try to low ball you and work on what ever hardship you may be encountering. Don't let the nice store front fool you, this is a bunch of sleaze balls that will rip you off and not lose a second of sleep over it. |
