I was visiting some good friends in Houston not too long ago and they wanted to take me to the Galleria and show me around. The mall is amazing, hundreds of stores selling everything you could want...and some things you don't want. That's where my story starts. As my friends and I walked past a kiosk, a girl grabs my arm and says, "Let me show you something." I said simply, "No, thank you." and tried to walk away. She didn't let go and dragged me to the area behind her kiosk, all the while my friends didn't notice and kept walking. She immediately goes into her sales pitch, not letting me get in a word to tell her I'm not interested. Every time I try to interject she ignores me and keeps a hold of my hand, polishing my nails and demonstrating her products. I'm starting to get frustrated as my friends are completely out of sight and I don't want anything at all that she's selling. Finally, as she's caressing my hand and fingers she asks, "So do you have a girlfriend?", to which I reply "Yes". She says "OK, well you must buy her this and this..." Again, I tell her "No, thank you, I'm really not interested." She immediately starts asking me how much I would pay for her products. Keep in mind she is physically blocking me from leaving, behind me is to overlook going down 3 stories and she keeps moving in front of my every attempt to leave the back of the kiosk. Again she asks how much I would pay, so I tell her for the 3rd time I'm not interested. This has been going on a good 10 minutes at this point. She finally pushes my hand down, forcefully grabs everything out of my other hand and starts saying what a cheap man I am and how I don't know how to treat a woman, and so on. I was in total shock. I felt like someone had just punched me in the gut. As she was going on about me "wasting her time" and being "too poor to even come here", all I could think in my head was, "How could someone so pretty on the outside be so ugly on the inside." I finally just walked away a bit in a daze as she continued her tirade, and spent the next 45 minutes trying to find my friends. It bothers me to this day. I tried to find some office in the mall to report them to but could find nothing. Tried to find some management or mall central office and again came up empty. I just happened to be searching online and came across another report VERY SIMILAR to my experience. These type of bully tactics shouldn't be allowed in a family mall. If you see the Etre Dead Sea Products Kiosk on the 3rd floor of the Houston Galleria, KEEP AWAY!! Don't let them grab, harass, humiliate you, or get you to pay money for their overpriced junk!! |
