| Eric P Sivak is a deaf contractor located in Washington DC. DO NOT hire him to do any renovations, not even to hammer a nail. He's NOTORIOUS for finishing projects late and for intimidating clients if they express any dissatisfaction with their work. He has also sued clients for imagined slights. If you have any work you need to do, do NOT hire him. Plenty of other contractors with very good reputations to hire. |

| DO NOT HIRE THIS GUY!!! HORRIBLE CONTRACTOR!!! ALL THE FEARS YOU HAVE ABOUT CONTRACTORS WILL BE EXPERIENCED WITH HIM!!! Eric Sivak was referred to me by Service Magic for a renovation project. I wanted a 10' wall removed between my kitchen/dining room, drywall ceiling replaced in living room/kitchen/dining room, cabinets and appliances re-located, plumbing re-located, and recessed lighting installed. Eric's quote was $6, 800 and he estimated 3 days to complete the job. He showed up and worked a full day with his brother to remove the wall and ceiling. In doing so, he created a very big mess and caused damage to trim molding, appliances, and walls. He did NOT clean any of the mess. After waiting 3 days for him to return to condinue work he showed up daily for a few hours at a time. The plumber he contracted clogged my pipes and returned 3 days later, after I hounded Eric, to clear them. Eric's work is substandard, slow, messy, and incomplete. He is deaf which makes communicating an inconvenient challenge. The work ended up taking 3 weeks and went almost $3, 000 above his quote. He is rude, slow, non-responsive, and unprofessional. I would NEVER hire him to do work for me again and I urge anyone to look elsewhere for their home repairs and projects. |

So in summary, Eric didn't do very good finish work ( I paid to have someone come in and do most, I did some myself), tried to drop something from the contract after it was signed, was not responsive to any feedback, refused to do (or charged extra for) anything that was not explicitly in the contract. While Eric was the lowest bid contractor we talked to the total cost of the project was still 25K with around 15K in labor and contractor provided light materials (dry wall, paint, etc). You would think for this price some of the above would not have been a problem. Finally if you think that I am just a tough customer, or someone that hasn't worked with contractors, I would say this, I have redone my own yard, hired someone to have a fence put up, hired someone for new basement windows, had a new storm door installed, put in my own hardwood floors, contracted some one to re point the house and later re pour the patio in the back, had the roof done, and had some minor electrical. I would happily give a reference for any of those contractors. Eric on the other hand, I would avoid no matter the size or cost of the project.

| i dont believe them, i hired eric, he did a wonderful job and professional on my kitchen and bathroom projects, have no problem with him and his crews, i believe they are liar about him and dont listen them . |

I totally agree. Aside from taking a $20, 000 deposit, not starting work, then telling me he needed more cash to finish another project, he lied throughout, threatened me, stole my washer/dryer, doors, and hardware. I could write a book about the saga of Eric Sivak and the heartache he caused me but I've put that awful time in the past. Long story short, there are dozens of reputable contractors in DC (Try Dila Construction!) and Eric is not one of them. He is awful and I'm surprised he's not in jail by now.
Also, notice JeffDc's comment. That was written by Eric. I recognize the poor english from hundreds of emails with him. The last one ending with him replying "F*ck you." |
