Our company booked the services of EmmeGirls for an event. They were to provide promotional models for us. They insisted and we agreed to pay a 30% deposit totalling $480.00 prior to receiving the booked model names and photos. We paid the deposit and were told we would receive the names and photos no later than 8pm EST so we could meet a deadline. 8pm came and went and we were unable to provide the model information for our client as we needed. I made several calls to the owner of the company, none of which were answered. I followed up both via text and email. The owner had been very active in making/returning my phone calls when seeking the deposit but all but disappeared thereafter.
Nearly 2 hours later we received some photos with no names, which did not help us. We followed up again via email for the names and got no response. The next day we again tried to contact the owner of EmmeGirls again and, as of 1:00pm EST, there was still no answer or return call. We recognized we were not getting what was promised and had to make other arrangements to secure our staff. I made one final call/email to EmmeGirls to inform them we were cancelling their services for lack of delivery and wanted our deposit back. Sometime after I cancelled I suddenly got a call form the COO of Emmegrils (it is a husband/wife or family owned business). He stated they still wanted to book the event but would not provide us the information we were promised the day before. This was in direct conflict with what we were assured we would get. I believe they either did not have the event booked as they cliamed and thus no names or else they were misleading us for some other reason. I reaffirmed I was cancelling their services as this lack of communication and failed promises were unacceptable. He said he would not return the deposit! The attention and service EmmeGirls delivered subsequent to placing the deposit were incongruent with reasonable expectations. From my perspective, keeping the deposit is unethical if not breaking any civil laws. I would clearly never work with this organization again and would advise those I know to steer clear as well lest they have a similar experience. |
