EBay Ebay Buyer Protection Program Buyer Protection - What a Joke! San Jose, California |

EBay advertises a "Buyer Protection Plan" for your purchases. It is supposed to make you feel real safe in bidding for good and services on their site. Having been a member for almost 10 years, I believed them, but the first time I actually needed their services, I got rejected. Here's the story! I purchased some goods. I never received anything that even looked remotely like the goods that I purchased. I followed EBay's guidelines and tried to work things out with the Seller. After several emails back and forth, along with providing the Seller a photo of the goods that I received, I was unable to get satisfaction. So at Ebay's instructions state, I filed a case with their "Buyer Protection Department". They instructed me to send the goods back to they buyer by registered mail. Since the seller was overseas, I could not get a valid address from them since EBay advised me NOT to contact the seller any further. I sent an email back to EBay stating that I was unable to get an active address. I received a return email from EBay stating that I would receive an answer back from them within 3 days. I never received anything from them. A few days later, I was sent an email stating that my case had been closed since I had not mailed the goods back to the Seller. Needless to say, I was upset since I had not heard anything back from them. After a few calls, and endless time on the phone, I received an address from EBay to which I was to send the goods back, registered mail. I did as requested, and provided EBay with the tracking number. I was informed by them that I would receive an answer back from them by the 8th of September. Prior to that date, or just at that date, I received an email from EBay stating that my case was on hold until the 23rd of September, at which time I would receive an answer back from them. I waited until the 10th of October or so, then sent an email to EBay letting them know that I have not received anything back from them. No answer! Today, the 19th of October, I was able to get them on the phone after about an hour of trying. I was advised by their "Buyer Protection Department" that they had decided to disallow my claim. When asked when this was decided, I was informed that it was on the 24th of September. They could give no reason as to why I was not contacted. In short, their advertisement for having a Buyer Protection Service means that they are protecting themselves. I followed their instructions, did as requested, sent back the false goods, and what did I get for it. Nadda! Not even a polite notification that they turned down my appeal. So now I am out of hard earned money for goods that I sent back, leaving me nothing. Some protection!!!! Oh by the way, I have had over 600 transactions on their service since being with them, but guess how many more they will get from me or anyone that I know. You know that answer! |
