Dr. Hawrylo has put me through a never-ending nightmare. He performed rhinoplasty and otoplasty (ear) surgery on me. The results: I had to go back for bleeding complication of one ear as he failed to properly suture the incision closed. As far as the rhinoplasty, he left me with a persistent dorsal hump, asymmetrical nostrils, and a hanging columella deformity - look it up. My hung down about halfway down my upper lip.Additionally, it was very pointy and had pieces of cartilage sticking through the tip.I did not have this before the operation. My ears only looked slightly different.
When I asked him how my nose turned out that way, he didnt offer any answers...he was quiet. He revised my nose and that was the worse decision of my life, to trust this guy again. It came out much worse...horrible, in my opinion. My nose was now completely fat, bloated, and wide. The surgical deformity he created this time around is called an open-roof deformity - look that up as well. Completly flat and square nasal bone at the top of my nose bridge. Why would he do this? Who knows. He failed to performosteotomies to prevent it. Additionally, my septum was somehow (or always was) deviated. Even though he billed my insurance for septum repair he didnt touch it....thank God! He would have messed that up too, I'm sure. I was then plagued with nosebleeds out of that side. Also, one nostril and mid-vault of my nose was collapsing.
When I asked him how my ears seemed to still protrude and stitches were pushing through the skin on the back, again, no answer. He made them worse by removing skin from one and not the other. Now one is noticeably smaller. Also, he stitched my earlobe to my head on one side, and now they are completely assymetrical. Maybe even worse is the fact that he left an earplug in my ear from during the procedure, and could barely pry it out 5 days later when the bandages came off. He blamed it on a nurse. My ear has felt weird ever since.
Since these horrors, I have worked with a talented reconstructive facial plastic surgeon/ENT named in NYC. He diagnosed me with retention cysts in my sinuses, most likely due to the deviated septum. He had to fix the open-roof and use cartilage grafts from my septum to build up the collapsed areas that Dr. Hawrylo created out of his incompetence. He also tried to repair my earlobe so it almost matches my other again. He had to cut it off the side of my head and reshape it. He could not believe what Hawrylo did to me, or why. He also pointed out, like the numerous other specialists I consulted with, that Hawrylo used an inappropriate, outdated technique on my ears, when he should have used Mustarde stitching. As a result, the top 2/3's of my ears still protrude. And still hurt.
Do your research before you have any plastic surgery; and by all means, DO NOT GO TO DR. HAWRYLO. Unless you want to be botched. Plus, don't count on being able to sue incompetent doctors, because unless you're crippled by them, no lawyer will take your case. Also, there is a statue of limitations, 2 yrs.
Good luck. |
